Shoutout to Arya who imo has written some of the most interesting articles on Hackaday. Was really interesting to read through!

Have you looked at ZLUDA? Edit: Or HIPIFY, a tool made by AMD as a translation for CUDA. https://github.com/ROCm/HIPIFY/blob/amd-staging/README.md

Woops, I think "(better)" came off as far too harsh! I love komorebi a lot too, but ultimately it's held back by what Windows allows IMO.

The issue is that Windows API is completely incompatible with Linux unfortunately! This wouldn't even be runnable under Wine. That being said, as my siblings have mentioned, Linux has many (better) tiling managers. For instance Sway an

I'm a bit confused? Most security issues can be solved with microcode updates, kernel-level mitigations, or compilation level mitigations? I'm not exactly sure why this is as big of an issue as you make it sound? Realistically, an

I'm curious if this is actually true, considering various ARM MCUs and SOCs seem to dominate in quantity. Considering these largely run some sort of Linux or RTOS, I'd be curious to see if MINIX or Linux is more widespread?

It sounds like you have anecdotal evidence from a bad side of academia. I also have many friends in academia across NA and Asia and have an impression closer to parent's.

IMO the issue is that we used his convention even after we realized he was wrong. As a student, this trips me up immeasurably, especially after learning non-symmetric circuits.

Well, I think it's reactions are definetly "hostile" to be fair. Could you cite some sources by the way? Huawei, iirc, has/had one of the largest R&D funding among companies worldwide? I also thought the US banned th

Unfortunately, Huawei's efforts with english documentation fell off severely after the sanctions... A symptom of their loss of interest in the foreign markets (look at EMUI for instance). That being said, there'll probably be more

Intense TLP optimizations do most of the work! There's a lot of threads regarding optimization on the community forum too! Otherwise: - Keep all expansion cards as USB-C - Do what powertop tells you to do (watchdogs, autosuspend) - Ru

This is heavily outdated. Dimensity 9300 is ahead of both SNDG3 and A17 in MC benchmarks. The GPU is highly competitive too. It's somewhat laughable to compare it to Exynos :)

First gen Framework (11th gen) here. It's different your experience is from mine. I get typically 8-10 hours (more than enough for a full school day) on my laptop, although I have done numerous power optimizations.

Just a random thought, it's amazing how competitive a startup can be when compared to a company that has orders of magnitude more R&D funds! Tradtionally, I would think hardware products would have a relatively large moat!

I know there's quite a big community that buys almost purely old ThinkPads for their Coreboot support and lack of Intel ME/MSFT Pluton. Considering the processors in those chips are almost 20 years old now, this RISC-V chip may ac

Parent of parent explained the premise of the video correctly. For someone who's complaining about the parent not watching the video, it really comes off as you having not even watched the video.

If the data is ananomous (as it should in all telemetry), this is less of a concern. But yeah, it's definitely concerning to see more incentive for data collection beyond ad targeting.
