Good idea. I'd like to see something like this become more integral on Flickr. I've been doing some searching for ideas for album artwork, and I found something on Flickr I'd strongly consider using, but I'll still have to contact and negot

Agreed. If you can program in anything else, you can pick up enough Python to get started in a day (obviously longer to be really productive). I've read the O'Reilly Collective Intelligence book, and Python was a nice fit for expressing the

I'd like to know as well. Amazon FPS seems like one of the best/most comprehensive solutions for payments, but from what I can gather from their site, it's currently still limited to companies with a physical address, bank account and credi

Meant to add that I wonder if there will be any plans, now that they're a part of Rackspace, to expand to multiple geographic locations...

Not that this helps the original poster, but Slicehost is pretty much pay-as-you-go as well now that they don't charge the first 3 months up front. They still charge a full month at a time, but if for example you create a slice for just a c

I didn't know that. I guess I got the impression from some peoples' comments on the web that they did... Thanks for the clarification :)

While this is a LONG time and definitely Apple needs to improve their support of developers with at least a status message of some kind, it could be that the app is complex enough that it's taking a long time due to that complexity. Apple d

I think sites like that are great! It's great to see people experimenting with new ideas around sharing music, and while I'm not sure which of them will provide the ultimate successor to the current music industry structure, or which combin

Indie artists listed on iTunes (for example) make more than 60% on each song/album sale. It's way higher since there are no middle men involved. And it's easy to get listed through services like cdbaby.com. So "stealing" music from indies d

One more reason I'm so glad I moved all my code over to github. Git + github is such a great combo, for both open source and private projects too. Thanks dudes!

Yeah, I'm totally lost too, after reading the about and how it works pages. Just not sure what problem I have that it's trying to solve, that something else doesn't already solve anyway... Care to clarify on here?

In short, lots. I think Xobni's person-oriented metaphor is a very strong one. It doesn't replace Outlook's UI, but it does add a lot of value to it. In Gmail, I end up with dozens of labels and filters putting mail in each of those labels.

Congratulations! Xobni is making my Gmail look worse and worse every day. Hopefully one day Xobni infiltrates more than just Outlook :)

I wonder how this compares to Mosso's CloudFiles? They've already been offering a CDN built-in, but I haven't done any testing myself yet to compare their services (latency, etc). Cost comparisons run very close using their cost calculators

On the server side, you'll want to look at red5 ( http://osflash.org/red5 ). Client side you'll likely have to code custom though. Anyone know a good webcam capturing flash or flex utility? I haven't found one myself...

Definitely. Aside from reading anything I can online, and coding-related stuff, neither of which I really count as legit reading, I always have a book on the go. I never know where to start with new books, so I just stick mainly to classics

My personal experience from myself and everyone I've seen, is that there are very few true geniuses (much less than 20% of the population), and that the major differentiators are luck and effort. You're lucky to be born into a family that t

Just to clarify, I don't mean conversation is useless, but I see other sites enabling that in a better way already. As a conversation tool, Twitter seems more like a feature than a full service.
