A friend of mine went and thought it was very good, but couldn't afford to stay. He took a few years off, saved up, and went back to finish. Very smart guy, always had some really out-there question for you in lieu of hello. Made for really

Only if the last window you close is the one with the pinned tabs, otherwise they're gone and there doesn't seem to be a "re-open pinned tabs" option to retrieve them either. So at this point, the only effective solution is to use the bookm

LOVE that pinned tabs stay open after reload, without resorting to hacks like you have to with Chrome. That's about the only thing that persistently bugs me in Chrome these days. All in all, FF5 is looking really good. Way to go!

Been developing on DotCloud for a month or two now, and minus a couple very minor hiccups it's been fantastic. Some things I'm really looking forward to though: * Pre-install hooks in addition to their post-install ones (to, for example, mo

I worked with Derek on a few websites years ago, and though I've never met him in person (we lived in different parts of the country), he made a definite impression on me as a genuinely good and thoughtful person. Funny how some people just

How is their cloud storage? I was comparing prices between services the other day and it seemed pretty competitive, but haven't yet tested latency and such. Wondered what other HNers have found compared to Amazon and Rackspace in terms of s

So is the lesson simply to prototype on paper/other mockup tool before coding? Even in high school comp sci our teacher drilled this into us. We even wrote 100% of our coding tests on paper, no computers allowed. As a result, I still mock n

If I'm going to take a service seriously, I don't want to spot spelling errors within 20 seconds of hitting the homepage. stradegies->strategies That said, interesting idea using JS to create buying/selling patterns and test them agains

Sweet, just submitted my side project: https://microsoft.promo.eprize.com/ie9app/gallery?id=216 Can't hurt... :) It was only submission #3 under Music, and there are only 2 categories, that and Games. Any other HTML5 music apps out there?

Sure! When I started working long hours behind a desk and not eating properly (teenage or stereotypical coder eating habits + sedentary lifestyle), the combo crept up on me but really hit me hard. I ballooned up before I realized it from 14

Be interesting to see how fast other browsers/servers start supporting this. I'd love to see Google add it to App Engine sites, for one thing.

Looks remarkably similar to Facebook's platform. If I'm going to take an interest in a new platform, it ought to bring something new to the table, not just "we do that too now, so connect to ours instead."

I'd say bad cofounder, because you can find someone as a solo founder, but you have to first get rid of a bad cofounder (or put up with it). I'd break it down into 3 things to look for in a cofounder: proof that they're hard-working, that t
