Some devices had a small performance hit, but some had had their clock speeds to less than half, making devices laggy even during normal usage. By itself this is already a problem, but they also decided to not allow you to disable the featu

My iPhone was affected by this. Let me tell you my experience, without "Samsung FUD": - The phone became slow, laggy animations, etc. - I had no idea what was causing the problem. - There was no way to return to an older iOS versi

It works fine on sites that mostly don't do anything to bypass adblockers. It technically can't work fine on sites that do it. Restricting what the adblocker can do will also affect the way they mitigate adblocker avoidance in the

Are you suggesting that a thief won't snatch your +$1k Galaxy S23 Ultra because they'll only get $700 instead of $900 for a similarly priced iPhone? I'm not sure if they're that picky.

> That's not the case for the iphone. You can definitely re-use or sell iPhone parts. Most of replacement parts shops have access to are not sold directly by Apple. As mentioned in the article, some parts won't work and others

These "locks" might reduce theft, but not only they still happen, but you can also make money with a stolen phone. You can sell it for parts. An iPhone will annoy you about the replaced display, but the phone still works. You can

Regarding the iPhone, Apple's behaviour wasn't that nice: - The throttling slowed down some devices so much that it made the phone laggy. There was no way to disable the feature. - If you asked for help in their stores they wouldn

No one ever stole my phone, but I had everything from broken displays to dead batteries, so at least in my case this is not good for me as a owner.

Personal vs work profiles, for example. My work profile has uBlock Origin with stricter rules which would break some sites/tools I use for work. I also redirect Twitter to Nitter, use a different password manager, etc. For bookmarks, i

Yes, containers on Firefox are better for that use case. Now imagine Firefox with containers and user friendly profile support. The best of both worlds in one browser.

Profiles and Containers are different things. If more people understood this, we would be asking for better profile support on Firefox and for container support on Chromium, not suggesting containers to people who need profiles or trying to

Compare that page and how you get to that page to Chromium's profiles UI and you'll understand what the problem is.

I've used that before. Props to the developer, but on top of the extension, we also have to install software for it to work. It also doesn't fix new profiles opening in the background and the messing up of dock icons, although thi

We've had about:profiles for many years, but that UI is not for the average user. On macOS opening a new profile through that also opens the window in the background and may also mess up your Firefox icons in the dock, not to mention t

Different bookmarks, extensions, settings, themes, and ability to sync all those to other machines. We just have to look at what profiles and containers do to understand that while useful, containers can't replace profiles.

Firefox users don't use profiles because switching between them is a pain in the rear (at least on some platforms). Containers are nice, but you can't have different bookmarks, extensions, settings, etc. It's not a replacemen

(I'm replying to the original version of your comment.) How can you have different bookmarks, extensions, and maybe even a different theme (so you know you're using the right window) with containers? The answer is: you can't.

That depends a lot on the site. It works well on some, but on others it's just not enough. Safari/iOS blocking is closer to uBlock Origin than to DNS blocking, but is not as powerful as uBO and some sites "exploit" those

Yes, "we" protect TSMC and others like them by providing Taiwan with weapons that makes a war/invasion very expensive and show that anyone that does that will have a though time. But you "have no interest in funding prox

I'm not saying that some guy won't try to make a buck, but the incentive for those in power to allow that to happen is small when they depend on the west to maintain current weapons and get new ones. The F-16's won't fly

You'll understand how it's your problem when you try to buy the latest SoC and can't because the TSMC fabs were destroyed during the invasion of Taiwan (or something like that).

There's no point in discussing this because no one is going to invade Russia. They have nuclear weapons. Even if they didn't, I'm not seeing anyone in the West edging for a war with them. With this said, all that advanced tec
