I don't know about Apple, but I don't think Samsung has something in place to just ban certain "package names" from being installed. So far what countries have been doing is 1) ban the app store from distributing the app

This is Apple blocking (some?) VPN apps from the App Store because [edit: probably] they're required to do so, something they've been doing for a while in some countries (eg: China, Russia). And this is why I want to have the opt

The point I was trying to make (probably made a bad job at it) is that there is more than one bad actor in the Pacific and the person I replied to only blames one side. Sure, the US has their bases there (many since WW2), but we can't

Most bases have been there since before you were born (probably) and before China was a rising power. In any case, my point is that you only attribute fault to one side, when you have the other side making claims and starting to flex in fro

You've pointed out what the US is doing. That's good, but you're clearly biased, so let me tell you two things that China is doing that is contributing for that instability you've mentioned: claims in the south china sea

Right, it was never a good platform for longer posts, but before at least you could try to follow the different posts. Now, public links only show one post and that's it.

Humans will always be humans, independently of the platform. :-P In any case, at least we can see the replies and other posts from the account without having to create an account. Still better than Twitter/X in my view.

I don't think there's malicious intent here because Organic Maps is a very small app compared to other "map apps", Google isn't afraid of them. Incompetence? Perhaps. Also, every store makes mistakes from time to ti

I don't think the comment is being voted because it's "pro-Musk", but because no one believes they're going to do any of that. I even thought it was a joke, until they asked why they were being downvoted. The true i

Does it make sense use the abuse within the porn industry to defend this when a lot of porn these days comes from individual creators? OnlyFans seems to be huge and I just checked PornHub's front page, of the 3 first rows, only 3 video

We expect different things from the OS we use, I guess. My main machine is a Macbook Pro and one thing that annoys me a lot is the way Apple handles apps that are not notarized. I don't use iPhones because of the system restrictions (f

CrowdStrike's mess up is CrowdStrike's fault, not Microsoft's. We might not like the way Windows works, but it usually works fine and more restrictive systems also have downsides. In any case, it was CrowdStrike who dropped t

I'm fine with it as long there's data to backup the claim. What we shouldn't do is claim that a certain tea is able to cure something like "long covid" when 1) it ranges from being tired to brain damage and 2) is no

Older macOS versions don't receive all security fixes, so while you'll receive security updates from time to time, the OS isn't fully patched. It's a bit different from, say, Ubuntu LTS.
