Enneff works with ken in the Go team at Google. As for his particular insight, if you are familiar with his work, that should be enough. For those not familiar with his work, this interview might be a good starting point: http://genius.cat

You should look up how Plan 9 handles debugging, you just import /proc from the remove machine, and run the debugger locally. This works even across different architectures, and the debugger is completely network unware, is all handled tran

Some of my favorite quotes about X ( from http://quotes.cat-v.org/programming/ ) : "Programming graphics in X is like finding the square root of PI using Roman numerals." -- Henry Spencer "Sometimes when you fill a vacuum, it still sucks.

C++ is not intimidating, it is terrifying. Erlang is nice, but has its own not-so-simple issues: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G0eBDWigORY Interestingly, many things in Go's design that might seem 'deficiencies' from the point of view of

I have found at least the Go stdlib much more uniform and reliable than the Python stdlib, perhaps not as complete, but it also has things that are missing from the Python stdlib, and unlike with the Python stdlib I don't find myself reachi

And unlike Jobs, Elon is behind much of the engineering and research his companies work on. And also unlike Jobs, you can sense a certain humility in how Elon talks both about himself and about others. When Neil Armstrong spoke against priv

Even more afraid than those of us that keep our networks open. If you 'close' your network, and somebody does something nasty over it, you have to prove it wasn't you, while if you leave your network open it is obvious that it could have be

That is a list of wrappers for C libraries, there are even more pure-Go libraries: http://go-lang.cat-v.org/pure-go-libs And I maintain both pages, and I have to confess they are badly outdated because is hard to keep up with all the libr

Given that Rob created one of Go's ancestors using the same CSP concurrency model back in the 80's precisely to build GUI apps, I think it should work quite well: http://doc.cat-v.org/bell_labs/squeak/

Is already possible: https://bitbucket.org/binet/go-python But is simpler to just write all your code in Go, Python code is not just slower, it is also less reliable and less maintainable.

There is Go support for SWIG: http://www.swig.org/Doc2.0/Go.html Still, it is rarely used, building in pure Go is much nicer, because one of the great things about Go is building systems where you can understand all the pieces. And if you

Go doesn't stop you from building datastructures, actually is really nice for building datastructures. It simply doesn't provide a simple way to build some kinds of generic datastructures, but when the ones provided by the language are no

If you need an ORM with Go you are probably _doing it wrong_. ORMs make little sense other than to make flawed OO type systems match relational databases. Just do it right from the start: use a database model that matches your application.
