I love Beeminder too (the sister app to GTBee). I’ve been trying to reorganise my habits into ones that aren’t “proxy’s” for what I want to really achieve (Eg “invoiced dollars”, rather than “did some client work”)

The calendar blocking is a really important point I’ve found too, so you make time to do the items in the list.

Interestingly I’ve found I haven’t done that. I try to make the tasks small enough that when it’s time to do them it’s not overwhelming and the potential fine is enough just sting to make me check the app regularly

I’ve found the trouble with Todo lists is that you fill them up and then start ignoring them as they are overwhelming. I’ve recently found Beeminder’s GTBee todo list app a good help as it forces you to enter a due date and fines you at lea

Good point. Not a lot of people remembered that Microsoft acquired FrontPage from Vermeer in 1996 for millions. There's a pretty good old book about it "High St@kes, No Prisoners"

Thankfully Chrome has fixed this issue. I just tried this and Chrome actually warns you about downloading DLLs and requires further user interaction to actually download DLL to the downloads folder: Screenshot: https://i.imgur.co

It's handy on the new Apple TV to speak a search phrase rather than select each letter one at a time using the remote. At least on the Apple one though you press to speak into a mic on the remote so presumably it's not listening a

The ability to lay people off whenever you want also has the benefit of employers feeling more confident in hiring people, as they can lay them off if required. It leads to more jobs and a more dynamic labour market as your job security is

This was the argument against privatizing the telcos in Europe in the 80s. But once they did competition and innovation thrived. Classifying something as a utility leads to stagnation.
