I'd like to reiterate that Obama was against gay marriage during 2008 and California, the most liberal state ever, voted against it. A lot changes in 6 years(1). I'm a democrat in support of gay marriage because citizenship, bene

It really is awesome being in NYC. I have lived here my whole life, from when every neighborhood was dangerous to now when even harlem is hoarding hipsters. I have no basis of comparison, but this city really kicks ass. The restaurants, t

Still worth it to me. The quick free shipping is great and the streaming educational kid's tv is a godsend. Plus for a family there are considerably more packages coming down (tools, toys, etc.). Seems like they crunched the numbers

I am a lifelong liberal but I did work for a year as a correction officer on Riker's Island (a decade ago, at ARDC which is the jail discussed). The "box" was referred to by everyone as the "bing". This isn't

I liked them better when they were a gorgeous co-working and hackathon space. They really had a "future of NYC tech" vibe. Their pivot/focus on education seems to be unfortunate, not sure how they can get money back for thei

Not looking to pair (plus not a python/excel/ui guy), but dropping a note to say this seems like a great idea. Plus you have a huge market in the financial industry (obviously), which is where the pain points mean $.

I don't believe he has (yet). He is really good about posting disclaimers when he recommends something he has invested in. He has been posting links to hackpads for a while and I noted the marked absence of any disclaimers.

Kindof a big deal, but won't get any press here because some random startup just got 1 mil in funding and that's what matters. I think if there are more examples of scala.js and clojurescript doing the intensive stuff that javascr

I think there is a great use case for this framework. It seems like Scala is a platform that some Rails projects move towards. It would be nice to be able to do this transparently to existing customers. Play is fun, but I'm not sure a

Yes and no. I think: 1) Rails (I don't know Django) will continue to be the quickest way to have a quick full-stack demo/MVP. It is opinionated, and has tools like railsapps that let you customize it. So you can have a solution

I like this from a usability standpoint. Just as some forms auto-fill the city/state based on the zip (and might get it wrong), this enables something similar. And it might get it wrong, but if your mom gave you a girl's name* b
