Thanks for comments on solutions companies and on Salesforce, codegeek and PaulHoule. You understand the situation perfectly. AI is early and customers need handholding because they don't really understand it and don't have in-hou

You can't be precious on Upwork. And there's a strong GIGO factor. What you have to do is churn a bunch of jobs/contractors until you get the one that really pays off. Don't let the hassles get to you, just keep turning

I'm inspired by how clean his reasoning is. Something basic but fuzzy which we refer to all the time - "divide by zero is undefined" - actually contains meaning! This makes me happy.

I paid for professional headshots to use in professional settings. It was partly about LinkedIn and other social media, and partly about conferences and press. Why? Because it's an effective way to tell your story better. It says you&#

VCs must aim high, but a medium-size win isn't the same as going bust. It's still better to get a return with strong linear growth than to get nothing.

That gets to lock-in. The stacks are super proprietary. Porting away from AWS to another serverless cloud vendor (e.g. Azure) would be a major project. Porting to a server-ful architecture would be a full rewrite.

This bug is almost old enough to drive. I submitted an earlier version of it back in the early 00s and have been CC'd on the endless procedural back-and-forth ever since. Incredibly, nobody ever said "we're just not doing it.

One of the most interesting things about this is reconstructing Coltrane's thinking. What steps did he follow to get here? Here's a genius whose profession is music, not math. What was his intellectual path during his private sess

I have considered a spiral version. You could see the Coltrane diagrams as viewing a spiral head-on, so that the spiral nature of the structure is hidden by occlusion. This would solve the problem of the arbitrary nature of representing onl

I never heard from him. The Coltrane originals were probably part of his estate, and I would guess have been donated to the university where he taught.

That sounds promising since it does disprove my earlier line of argument. That said, there is more work to be done to show equivalence.

I am just tabbing over from looking at a github profile of a potential hire. It was somewhat useful as a way of understanding this person's technology style. I saw PHP, game dev, JSON. I saw that he does do OSS stuff, though not much.

That inspired this idea: make all password databases public, in an encrypted form. Just post them in a standard location. This is to get rid of the fiction that these are ever private and to eliminate an incentive to break in.
