I think the main point is that one must not lose their ability to adapt when faced with rapid environmental changes. The 21st century can be defined so far as rapid changes all around, so this is pretty relevant.

Weird, Bulgaria is also seemingly being targeted by systematic Russian propaganda and fake news via news sites with anonymous authors and no citations, and via fake profiles on social media sites that like, share and comment on said sites.

Isn't it kinda undemocratic for "the West" to go in and overthrow an, ironically enough, democratically elected dictator?

I don't know if I asked my question as clearly as possible. Mocking your DB, the file system, the remote API, etc are all a given when doing tests. My question was aimed at trying to find out if it's feasible to replace the impera

I tend to do mock-heavy testing in Java projects, and it has burned me several times. You write mock tests along your architectural boundaries, but if those need to change due to a deeper refactoring, all your tests need to get refactored a

That's an interesting take on TDD. It's supposed to be a tool that boosts your productivity, have you thought about why it decreased yours?

Thanks for the inspiring story. One question - how hard is it to actually deal with the administrative, non-code tasks of turning your side project into your main business? I'm talking about incorporation, supporting clients, basically

Go hang out at Pripyat if you really think it's the fear that gets you. I volunteer as the B group, fearing radiation intensely but staying away from it. We can document whose health deteriorates first!

Most of the studies I've come across regarding fasting are done with mice. I wanna see someone test this in production by using human test subjects!

I've also seen extensive use of gotos for exception handling in C. After the knee-jerk reaction ("...but but Dijkstra!") I came to appreciate it as a useful idiom.

They also have very valid reasons to hate Stalin. Since these are the most prominent heads of state of the USSR and the modern Russian Federation, they pretty much represent Russia. If you think Russia has more to offer Ukraine than genocid

From my personal experience, this is utter bullcrap. At my first real programming job in a somewhat large company, we were an Android team of 6 developers aged 20-25 (the 25 y.o. guy was the team leader) and one dude aged 40. It was very ea

I like comparing iOS to Android development as similar to playing Mario Kart and Dark Souls... It truly is a mess and I won't be surprised if/when someone releases an Android SDK SDK (SDK squared!) that generates all the horrible

If "Economic growth" leads to ever increasing inequality, I don't think society will be more democratic because of it.

As a fellow European, I disagree that we have built in common features - unless you think "European" means your country and its closest relatives. If we all had the same culture, the EU wouldn't probably be in its slow bureau

The only tests you have to discard when using a statically typed language are some of the tests validating your input data. I don't see how static typing leads to less test coverage...

Somewhat inexperienced team leader here. IMO, working on improving the team's knowledge as a whole is so much more rewarding than working on your own knowledge and snapping at people who want you to share it. The style I favor when the

Couldn't agree more. Business (the people who pay us to code) generally doesn't care about performance if it's "good enough to ship". Time to market, on the other hand, is a matter of life and death.
