I short-circuited my microwave accidentally two years ago (don't power it up and then drop screwdrivers) and that was the best thing to happen to my meals.

I'm tired of those references to "most" people. Maybe let's rename AI to AMI: Artificial Mostly Intelligence ?

Axing the whole nuclear generation was a disaster. How many GW were not even planned, not to mention built in all those years? And don't try to slide out on "nuclear build-out takes too much time". It does not if there is a wi

And if Germany did not phase out nuclear, EU would not have relied on russian LNG for so long. But we live in an imperfect world.

Germany is producing some solar energy. This is of course indisputable. They paid for that by selling most of their industry to China because energy costs became unbearable. Was this the right tradeoff?

You just get drunk from the vapour way faster than it can have a measurable impact on the lungs. (you can actually drink it if it's reasonably pure. it's even less toxic than ethanol, but the hangover is terrible)

yup. it's nbd and userspace making it slow. zram on the other hand adds little. one can get rid of zram and just reimplement some compression in shaders but I think that would be a pointless optimization.

I actually loathe those "approx whatever time to read" notices for about the same reasons the OP lists. You or your model do not have and can not a clue how fast or slow I read, or, and that is the point, how much time I intend to

Why would you waste sunlight on light->electricity->heat conversion? Just do direct evaporation like it's been done for thousands of years. If you don't like brine, leave it to dry out too. If there is not enough sunlight,

I think later systems were at a core an attempt to implement something like high-frequency (which is a misnomer, it's more like low-latency) trading over 1960-70s tech at a scope that we still have no means to do now, in 2020s. "t

If people keep suggesting solutions that were tried and failed of course other people will point that out. 1930-s Gosplan, 1950-s Gosplan, OGAS, Cybersyn, they all failed. Come up with something new maybe?

Where I studied there was a tradition to throw out the TV out of dorm room window at graduation. Now that were early nineties, ~21" CRT TVs and a 24 storey dorm.
