I was looking at prices for a small room in Manhattan storage. The price of a room slightly bigger than a double-size mattress is $150/mo, for a pretty central location. YMCA membership for $40/mo for your running water, and bam, an apart

I agree with edmccaffrey: it's not confusing at all! Here's what I'd like from a redesign of Craigslist: 1. Automatic spelling correction from posting-lingo in Standard English. 2. Automatic stemming of arbitrary description of location

Most websites' primary traffic source is search engines, the lion's share of which is Google. Websites that are otherwise are rare, so optimizing your pages to match what people are searching for is pretty important. You can innovate with

In Joel Spolsky's talk about StackOverflow, he says that one of the 9 key points is that Google is your UI. It sounds that NPR traded a few people paying for transcripts to get many more people discovering npr.org.

Right now we use cheap Asian manual labor for assembling clothing and electronics. This hand looks pretty accurate, anyone able to estimate how much current manual labor is replaceable?

Recall that primality testing was proved to be in P, O(n^6) via the AKS primality test, but in practice it's much too slow. So if something interesting is in P, but it's O(n^100), what good is that? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/AKS_primal

No, I completely agree! I think that, for example, London has been more aggressive in removing the number of cars on the roads; even still, there are traffic jams galore. There was a study about how building more than 3 lanes of highway di

This assumes that people won't carpool, that people will keep driving their car filled with 1.2 people into downtown/midtown. All you need is a congestion tax, and lots more people will drive only up to (say) Newark to take the Path train
