In the meantime in Google we do have dev and SRE... And for bits in scope of SOX a separate Release Engineering org. Go figure.

Apache License 2.0 is GPL-compatible, isn't it? Edit: expanding the acronym, to evade Android/Apache confusion.

Seems everyone and their dog moved their long-form into medium. And it does RSS. So, it's back to being mainstream?

Works fine in my Firefox... And does Google even offer native PC apps any more? I work there and haven't heard of such a thing.

That's an extra thing they could get wrong. Seeing how some banks cannot deal with copy-pasting my legal name correctly, I prefer to not give them anything else out of the ordinary.

First time I hear of DeltaChat. Does it use email as the actual transport? Sounds prone to stupid latency. What's the benefit over Matrix?

First-party GPG support would be so nice to have some decades ago. By now seems everyone admitted defeat. Companies standardized on email as notification system for "you got a message in the actually secure medium". Humans standar

That's Google, a company half-built on GPL software and employing hundreds (thousands?) of engineers full time contributing to GPL software. Yet, lawyercats decided AGPL is a huge no-no.

Just ride as a passenger through a road with cars parked on the side. When I did that about 1.5 year ago, it missed about a third of the cars and pictured a couple as moving on the driving lane.

(Intuitively, I'm not an expert) Apart from the statistical reasons already mentioned, there is also an ethical one. If you expect the study to confirm the treatment to be highly beneficial, you prefer not to withhold it from your pati

Right at the top: Code licensed under the GNU Affero General Public License (AGPL) MUST NOT be used at Google. That's the policy. No exceptions. Don't touch any of it on a corp-issued device.

You misread me quite badly. I've never lived in the US and actually come from a country 4x poorer (at least according to GDP/C), that's still ramping up coal, despite being told not to.

We likely won't, at least nowhere near the 20th century balance. For all the new tree saplings planted elsewhere, Brazil straight burns down old growth in the rainforest. For all the wind and solar installed by the rich countries, poor

There's a problem with testing sprinklers: engaging them can be damaging to contents and even structures. So, we're talking about completely emptying the facility, then taking it offline to dry for a time. I've never heard ab

Have you tried not being a foreigner? This is so annoying. Our office IP blocks are classified as US. So you could see folk sitting in the office in the evening, to watch Netflix content they could not see at home.
