This is the perfect illustration of how consumers are at the very tail end of the market. So many decisions have been made before consumers "vote with their dollars/feet" that they usually have little "choice." I put choice in quotes becaus

Really awesome. What would be really cool to see is a demo and example code of an app that has authentication, and user-level permissions on the data. These "everyone in the world can update a global list" demos are getting pretty tiring.

My "Seriously, how hard can it be." comment was about clipping the privacy policy to the clipboard, not to finding a new doctor. Also, from what I can tell, Stallman lives in an urban area. My comments were directed at him.

Find a new doctor. I have never been to a doctor, dentist, etc., that did not have a copy of the privacy policy taped/laminated to the clipboard!!! Seriously, how hard can it be. She probably would have found the policy if Sallman had told

One which is not on here, and is my favorite, is the icon to start a PowerPoint presentation: portable projector screen. Sure, they still exist, but most people these days have never had to actually carry and/or set one up. Well, maybe I ta

Speaking as someone who was recently a juror on a trial, I can firmly say that the premise of this article is correct. The courts in this country are far, far, far too slow to deal with a mass number of trials. The system would simply colla

It appears people who are writing about Bootstrap are not actually paying attention to its development... As of 2.0, you can customize the colors, and that helps a lot: http://twitter.github.com/bootstrap/download.html Also, it now has re

I know we all want patents to die, but until then, perhaps a more palatable way to deal with the problem... How about: If a patent is not implemented in a marketed product within two years (for a mechanical product) and 4 (or 5 years for a

You do mention "focus dissemination of this to people in those districts", and that is key, because unless a Representative/Senator is the head of a committee, an email/letter/etc., from outside of their district is completely discarded. Al

What does "size of your inbox" mean? I have over 22K messages in my inbox, does that mean I am too busy? I don't use my inbox as a "to do list," so I really don't care how many messages are in it. But, apparently, there are a lot of people

$400 may have been the actual high price, but if someone had purchased one share in '97 for $10, when it was $400 share, that person would have $1600 worth of Apple stock. This is due to the fact that the stock has split twice since he came

I will be saying this until I die, but WebObjects, originally created in Objective-C and then ported to Java, made Java web app development fun back in the days (late '90s early '00s) when people were killing themselves with Struts, Servlet

WebObjects was in its prime in 2005, and ran circles around everything out there (Java or not). Even in it's completely unsupported (by Apple) state today, it probably still runs circles around most of the frameworks.

I couldn't agree more. To me, encapsulation is the most powerful part of OOP. I learned this from Allen Holub, and it has been part of my mantra about OOP for years. It is what makes WebObjects such a powerful web framework, and why I am ha
