I absolutely search and buy the former... there is only so much growth Tesla can realistically sustain... and currently it's "not any more". Same for all of the Big Tech. Give me Rio Tinto and I buy it any day.

Yeah, youtube is super boring. It just suggests my top N most watched channels, even years after I stop watching some of them, as I lost interest in the topic. For example I used to watch lots of vsauce, numberphille, veritasium etc but I g

From my experience as an English language student (non-native), I disagree to some extent. Taking (and learning) the SAT is quite a different experience than learning the language. It seems that people who are good at "taking tests&quo

I know about this, but it's not that big of a deal to me, and I prefer to stick to the out-of-the-box experience on Arch and wait for a fix to arrive.

As I said, everything works, except for remembering the screen brightness level. It has 8GB soldered and you can put additional 16GB on the second slot. For me this is good enough. Hardware video acceleration works out-of-the box with kerne

For me, the worst of all is that you can minimize an app and it's still on focus. That gets me every single time. I don't know who thought of this, but last time I checked, it was supposed to be a feature, not a bug :D

Currently I run the cheapest ThinkPad T495 (AMD hardware) on Arch Linux (but maxed the RAM on my own). Everything works great, except it doesn't remember the screen brightness level after a reboot, which is not a big deal at all for me

I am not sure. I probably don't know "vim proper" - only "portable vim" which is the same in all editors. For the basic editing (probably not that basic, as I use quite advanced editing techniques like macros) I use

Exactly. Especially once you learn Vim you don't need to "switch" at all. You can have the vim plugin in every editor and use the best tool for every job.

Whatever you choose, make sure to use strict TypeScript from the very beginning. You won't regret it.

For me it was enough to just remap my right Alt to Ctrl. No need for expensive hardware which I can't bring with me everywhere. The ThinkPad keyboard is good enough.

I remap my right Alt to Ctrl. The best thing I have ever done with regards to ergonomics. It works wonders in all softwares, not only vim. It's much more convenient to press with the thumb than CapsLock is with the pinkie.

Actually, this is the wrong comparison (at least for me). I went from a 2017 15" MBP that was around 3.5k EUR to a ThinkPad T495 (with AMD hardware) for around 1k EUR and I also maxed out the RAM to 32GB for another EUR 150. I couldn&#

Funny thing is, this is not strictly needed anymore, as TypeScript is probably the best language in existence right now. edit: OK, maybe not compared to Rust... but here it wins by ease of learning.
