What do you mean "manually" ? `mul_add` is a rust function that operates on a single f64, it's still up to LLVM to choose which instructions to use and to do the vectorization.

As I said, the compiler did generate FMA instructions. These are SIMD instructions, so yes, the program was vectorized.

I did rewrite the code with mul_add, and didn't see any significant performance improvement. See my comment above.

It looks like what the author was looking for is [1] f64::mul_add(self, a: f64, b: f64) -> f64 Adding it to the code indeed allows the LLVM to generate the "vfma" instruction. But it didn't significantly improve

If someone is interested in seeing what this would look like in code, I recently made a Rust implementation of this algorithm : https://github.com/lovasoa/seamcarving/

That is wrong. The french version stated: > Retrait des forces armées israéliennes des territoires occupés lors du récent conflit. In this context, "des" means "de les". It is indeed a definite article.

I think the comparison in the redux example really isn't fair. He defines just one enumeration in ReasonML and uses many different constants and interfaces in Typescript. The equivalent of type action = | AddMovie(string)

Everything is turned into bytecode anyway. The Baseline Interpreter interprets the bytecode faster than the C++ interpreter, which allowed them to send less code to the JIT compiler.

Here is the original blog post by the french researcher (in english) [1]. In an update, he says the updated system with a 1024-bit key was also compromised, on august the 24th [2]. [1]: https://members.loria.fr/PGaudry/

Do you remember FirefoxOS, the smartphone OS that was developed by Mozilla ? It was abandoned in 2016, but KaiOS, the operating system powering these feature phones, is its descendant. Firefox's rendering engine, Gecko, is at the core

The published samples from the author's replicated GPT2-1.5M [1] look nothing like the ones from OpenAI's original publication. I really would have loved to see a student with no funding replicating a super large state of the art

Is it 3500€ before or after paying social security contributions ("brut" or "net") ? If it's "net", then it's a good salary for a beginner software developer in Paris.
