I found the egg claim interesting so I gave it a quick search: looks like there may be cases where these eggs can be replaced ( https://www.nationalgeographic.com/news/2012/3/120229-women-... ) but your claim d

My parents use internet beamed off a nearby farm silo. The owner of the project bought the trasmission info, paid for a splice in the fiber line on the road by the farmer's house and badabing-badaboom. Not necessarily tens of thousands

I'm not sure this is much superior to Worldometer's tracker. It's been running for weeks and seems to be lighter to load on my slow connection. The graphs are definitely a plus, though. https://www.worldometers.inf

I've been using Firefox Preview for months and it is the first time I don't hate using the browser on my phone. Huge props to the Firefox team for it.

My bank just changed from a 6-number password (literally no option for more or less characters nor anything but digits) to rational passwords this month. I don't know how my WoW account 10 years ago needed an authenticator but the peop

In the engineering office (non-software) I work in, I've done wonders with classic scripting for me and my colleagues. Some Excel VBA, lots of Powershell, AutoLisp, etc. Doesn't need to be shiny to be effective.

I had the good luck of getting hired into a job in a 100% French environment here in Quebec just out of school almost 2 years ago. I started with just an intensive 6 credit French course in university and grade 11 English-Canada high school

I know it's a tad pedantic, so excuse me: When we're talking about energy, the units are kWh (i.e. kW * h), not kW/h. Watts/kilowatts are already defined as unit energy per unit time. In the case of watts, we're tal

Having extra tech jobs in Canada will certainly, at least, keep some talent in the market. Having talent kept in the local market makes it easier for entrepreneurs to attract them. I don't agree with your assessment that this is peanut

The dollar is likely a factor, as you mention. But from their list of cities only Toronto has a crisis of home affordability. Montreal is still within sane levels and Waterloo is not too much worse.

It is important to keep in mind the two categories of coal in terms of their final use. Most people think coal is only thermal coal, which is predominantly used in power plants to generate energy. A non-negligible 20% of Australian coal is

You bring up a good point. Perhaps the solution is just to eliminate or reduce the human factor. I imagine for anything equipment so large it requires such a setup for charging would probably be worth the investment in an automated, or at l

You're right, but can you imagine how many problems could be introduced by changing batteries in an underground mine? A brand new equipment takes a single shift to gain a nice coat of mud from head to toe. I don't think it's

Not to take away from your point, I know you weren't talking about mining, but it should be pointed out that in an active mine there would surely be at least 10mm of insulation to protect the cable from damage.

Ah thanks for the clarification. Do you know under what pretense they charge the higher rates? I can imagine there is more fraud for adult payments, but would they also charge higher for gambling or other fraud prone payments in that case?

An honest question: Why and who in the payment space penalizes sites for allowing NSFW content? I can't understand why Visa, or Paypal would have moral grounds to block that content if they also process payment for strictly-porn sites.
