Are you sure those can't be configured via group policy? Maintaining a fork seems like an absurdly overcomplicated and expensive approach.

v2 is a 0kB file. As you note, v1 is still available, just as with any other paper that was updated. In any case I don't think that withdrawn papers support the OP's claim that PDF links are hard to find for normal papers .

The issue is that their LaTeX installation is fairly old, so there's a real chance of running into old bugs that have long since been fixed. It's a bit tiresome to work around those. I've had issues with their pgfplots versio

The Debian package is even more convenient, it sets up the cronjob automatically (with a random delay to prevent everyone from hitting the servers at the same time). It's even quicker to set up.

Well wouldn't better driver's ed solve most of those issues? A tiered license system seems like an overly complex solution. I've driven in both Germany and the US (DC area, while on holiday), and found US driving a lot more r

Yes, I'm pretty sure that that's the case with the fake Koss Porta Pros (headphones). If you're going to make and sell a forgery, why would the barcode be a problem? Barcode or no, passing off the forgery as the real deal isn

I think the problem is that it would create a new form of range anxiety: what if you want to take a spontaneous trip and your car is at 20%? The other problem is fear of degrading battery capacity through lots of cycles. In time, both of th

Germany has a drinking age of 16 (for beer and wine, spirits are 18+), a driving age of 18 (there is assisted driving at 17, where you need to have a parent/relative in the passenger seat until you turn 18), and voting age of 18 for fe

Only as long as you don't circumvent DRM, which in practice voids the whole Privatkopie thing because even CSS is counted as "wirksamer Kopierschutz" (effective copy protection), which is kind of a joke.

I've heard conflicting reports on whether Amazon co-mingles its own stuff with third party sellers, but some people have certainly claimed so. What co-mingling (it's opt-in for sellers) means is that Amazon doesn't distinguis

We use the same phrases in German, "fünf vor halb" and "zehn nach halb". It's quite useful, there's a description for every five minute offset to the hour: five/ten to/past the half hour or hour, quar

Yup, in German "halb sechs" is half past five, whereas in the U.K. "half six" would be half past six. It's quite confusing if you're used to one system and suddenly need to use the other.
