I confirmed all the folks listed on page 12 are still at Google (listed below). I am guessing the linked tweet is a BS claim. # Product Management Tris Warkentin Ludovic Peran # Program Management Minh Giang # Executiv

Good idea. I've confirmed all the leadership / tech leads listed on page 12 are still at Google. Can someone with a Twitter account call out the tweet linked above and ask them specifically who they are referring to? Seems there i

To be fair, I think they are in London, so I assume they have winded down for the day. Will probably have to wait ~12-18 hours for a response.

Is there any truth behind this claim that folks who worked on Gemma have left Google? https://x.com/yar_vol/status/1760314018575634842

AMD Vega VII meets the memory requirements. Once tools like LM Studio, ollama, etc. add support for the model, you should be able to run locally like you would any other open weights model.

You're right that they don't call them language models. The technical report says: Gemma models demonstrate strong performance across academic benchmarks for language understanding, reasoning, and safety. Maybe t

How is this a snide remark? It's factual and prevented their team from benchmarking against Llama 2.

It's kind of like lexers and parsers for compilers. It's largely a solved problem so doesn't get much attention.

I got a summary on both Gemini Pro and Gemini Advanced: Summarize this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0YY7K7Xa5rE #Gemini Pro (free tier): Here is a summary of the video Are Expensive Eggs Worth It? by Ethan

On the other extreme, do you care if a video presenting itself as authentic is fully staged or not? Does it matter if a video you watched was fully AI generated but is claiming not to be?

Yes, I think there's an issue when the video doesn't have captions.

IMO, these examples are a result of Google's AI safety team being overly conservative and overly simplistic in their approaches. Google DeepMind is still an AI research powerhouse that is producing a ton of innovation both internal and

How does this approach differ from pasting the URL to gemini.google.com with prompt "Summarize this video"?

You can just paste the URL to gemini.google.com with prompt "Summarize this video."

That's still way more work than is necessary, unless you absolutely need to summarize locally for some reason. You can just paste the URL to gemini.google.com with prompt "Summarize this video."

Can't you just paste the video URL into https://gemini.google.com/ with the prompt "Summarize this video" ? Example (Gemini free tier): Summarize this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch

Imagine sprinting to build a state of the art LLM only to have the AI safety team severely cripple the model's usefulness before launch. I wouldn't be surprised if there was some resentment among these teams within Google DeepMind
