Well, they're still in beta, even notifications weren't working that well up until recently. Plus, being closed off from the non-users might be a marketing thing. A lot of people were hyping it up with invites being seen as very d

I don't think that admitting an AI is in some way sentient would create a push to protect it. Animal testing is still very popular, despite there being no arguments about them being sentient. The tech industry isn't a moral leader

That's really insightful, thank you! I didn't even consider that pouring a glass of water would be a challenge or that the common solution is an electrode.

Forgive me if this is an insensitive question and feel free not to answer, but do you care about the way your food looks when it's done? I mean to say that many restaurants put a lot of time into how the dish looks, the way they put th

Yes, that is why I asked. I wasn't criticizing their choice, I wanted to know why it was made, the cultural reasons or circumstances behind it.

My client has P2P only for contacts by default, I 100% have not changed anything about settings. The rest are not P2P by default.

Is there a reason why they used those specific colors? I don't understand why a hospital would be yellow or a police station would be black by default. My guess would be white and blue, respectively.

It seems to be, yes, at least according to my calculations. For me it is almost 11, so the metric clock is past 4, close to the middle.

It's the same thing with games - whenever a game from a studio known for "broken" titles comes out, people post compilations of strange things happening, and it just never happens on my end. Natural bug resistance, perhaps. H

It could also be about the power balance. These small towns probably always had to do adjustments to fit what London wanted, because bigger cities always have priority. It's not surprising that they fought back against orders from the

Is it considered controversial to say he made great art? I don't know what he is seen as in USA, but many of my circle still play his old albums because they are modern classics. He's not liked as a person but it's hard to de

I would say only pop art is appropriation. Because it literally copies a different piece of art to exist. But it also adds a layer on top of it, changes its purpose, which means it starts with appropriation but then becomes interpretation.

But in cases like the one in the article, the damage doesn't matter that much, no? Their highest priority were files, so they did what they could to save them. But yes, just putting a piece of electronic in the fridge for a test is ver

These are very pretty, I really like the line breaks when an element is added over the face, such as in "face with tears of joy" or "star-struck". But some of them look a little off for me, like the skull or the baby emo

It's funny that pockets were a feminist thing so long ago but they still are. Women's jeans don't always have them and a lot of girls I know have complained about it. Never had this problem as a man.

Not reading the article or engaging with the points it makes also makes things weird. Each of us has a fragile body and at any moment, you might become broken in a way you can't fix. When you can't walk up a hill, hold a job - the

The Goodreads list has "Programming Clojure by Stuart Halloway", I guess it's an error or included more as an introduction to Clojure?

Wow, I noted it looked strange and spotted some things other people mentioned, but somehow completely missed the windows... I'm sure there is some sort of name for this thing of not spotting the obvious while getting the details.

Personally would like to see this developed deeper instead of branching into gaming goals. Then maybe it can one day be optimized to fit into an existing game's framework? Imagine Civilization 7 or 8, years down the line, having tech l
