What’s your beef? The name? Because I’ve been super happy with porkbun but damn, that name… and then the official-sounding ones like network solutions are quite shady. don’t judge a registrar by its name I guess.

Leaded gasoline and tobacco were explicitly marketed as non-harmful back in the day.

Ew at the bit about letting AI write your commit messages. Don’t bother - if you didn’t take the time to write it why should anyone take the time to read it. I’ll just ask my AI to extract the intent from the actual code if I need it.

You can still buy a cooling-only unit no problem. Slightly cheaper than a heat pump.

You could at least write the HN post yourself. Even that is slop.

The solution is simple : don’t use LinkedIn :) I only use it when looking for a job and I never look at the “feed” (what’s that for anyway?)

Taxis had a protectionist system. Took a single competitor with deep pockets and disregard for the system to upend the whole thing.

I mean sure but is your wiki public? If not, that’s one extra step to access your content. If it’s public then it’s basically a blog right?

Dunno man, sometimes I blog stuff I want to remember (how to do task X or Y, some arcane ffmpeg incantation, recipes, etc) and when I need it, it’s easier to find it in my public blog which is accessible from anywhere, vs. it being a file

Beats the crap out of dishonest ones. I hate AIs that start sentences with “honestly” or “I have to be honest”. Means they’re bullshitting you the rest of the time - which we all knew about anyway.

Wow even the HN intro comment is slop. Also - I’m a native Spanish speaker, it’s probably the first slop page in Spanish I’ve ever seen and it’s … painful. Do your users a favor and please go through it and do some human-driven copy editing

The only acceptable humorous take about the dark mode onslaught is this : https://xkcd.com/3227/ Everything else is just tragedy.

Use reader mode. If you’re this militant, I’m certain your device defaults to dark mode and reader mode will honor that. Using reader mode is the same thing I have to do with the avalanche of sites now defaulting to unreadable-to-me dark mo

Can flip this around: lots of websites now default to dark mode because reasons, and dark mode is very difficult for me to read (all blurry, also gives me a headache after a while).

I’d say entirely incorrect. It means exactly the opposite. I don’t buy the “it’s popular usage now so that makes it right” argument - it’s like saying 4 now equals 5 because more people use 4 to mean 5.
