I am having a lot of job interviews lately. Interviewers usually ask me about my latest experience. It was implementing a pretty clever parser involving a lot of memory management. So I give details about the algorithm to the interviewer.

Let’s say you have a mostly read-only DB (otherwise things are different). Does it work when the view is insanely big? [i am not an expert at DBs, so my vision of a big DB might amuse you, but let’s say I have millions of rows to assemble a

Plus it does not accept joins. So you basically have to denormalize all your data before injecting into Elastic. It helps speedup things. But is a headache to manage on a day to day basis.

As a freelancer, I am usually hired 3 months before the delivery of the product to help them firefighting. In the end, juniore don't deal with the real issues in their code. We, senior developpers, do. Note: after a stroke of lucidity

Am I the only one to consider "var" as a pointless way to declare a typed variable in Java? Especially in very classical cases like interface/implementation: AnInterface<String, String> foo = new AnImplementation<>

I know git internals. But I still struggle to have a correct mental model of developping features on branches that you then merge into a very distant branch. It is ok when you create a branch from develop, code your feature and merge back t

The more experienced I get, the more doubtful I am about every code. In the end I will be an ermit on a mountain imagining a code base that does not evolve into a monstrous mess. Honestly, I envy the young Mavericks who code shit and get wo

By the way, we are at Java15 at the moment. And don’t ask me what happened in seasons 9, 10, 12, 13, 14 and 15. Like grey’s anatomy, nobody knows and nobody cares.

For Java, it’s easy: - v8: we added functions and streams. It basically changes everything. We also added asynchronous stuff but you don’t care yet. - v11: we added built-in async http. Now you really want to have a look at that asynchronou

Classes is a semantic way of organizing your zillion of higher order functions, that would otherwise be just floating around. Beans is the way to build higher order data. Mixing them with care is the art of programming.
