Given the asynchronicity of developer's life, I usually create a workspace for any microtask I have. And the workspace/microtask automatically dies whenever it no longer contains any window. Even looking for information on stack o

I am surprised, given your very reasonable experience, that you do not highly praise the flexibility of i3 workspace management.

Which WM/desktop manager do you use when you are not on Windows?

I was very rude in my comment. And I apologize. But the fact stays: i3 is not solely about windows management. It is a major step forward in workspace management too. Bringing to Windows all the i3 features in term of workspace management

I have dozen named workspaces on i3. Limiting them or not providing the ability to (re)name them or create them on the fly makes the whole experience of virtual desktops pretty lame.

Be careful, I think you need something like 50-60GB of free space to run it. And the script does not check the free space beforehand. After the script is run, I think the OS X VM will occupy at least 25GB. PS: the graphics performance is ok

Definitely off-topic, but I was fond of a textual adventures on my father’s MacSE. There was anyway an image alongside the text to illustrate the descriptions. It started in a monastery, where everyone had disappeared. You had to travel aro

Went again to my local store, and my error rate on the new keyboard is just super high. What's the opinion of M1 owners, after a few months of experience?

I do that with xmodmap under Linux (remapping that useless CapsLock key into yet another modifier key. So capsLock+jkl; are my arrows for years, capsLock+space is my return key, etc). But I would love to have a keyboard that is directly pro

I have never used Reddit ever (nor Usenet). Anyway I have discovered Reddit while searching for i3 faq and help. (i3=the window manager). They simply use Reddit as their stackOverflow/support forum. Tell me Reddit is the Usenet+Stack

I second that. Reinstalling Ubuntu, I decided not to install Chrome, just to see. And honestly, everything is going fine (except for some DevTools minor issues).

It all has to do with refactoring. And new people coming into the project. True fact: One day (or another), it happens.

How can people honestly think that big innovations will come out of the Amazon’s Elastic fork? There is not fundamental technical reasons for that fork. Call me hippie, but a project is all about love and dedication. And I hardly think Amaz

I think all languages do suffer from their initial design. And spend 5-years iteration to circumventing them. Java will have proper asynchronous management in 5 years, Go will have generics in 5 years, Rust will have a garbage collector var

Frontend has very few to do with HTML and CSS nowadays. It all has to do with framework choice, the build toolchain, the unit-testing of the front, the server-side rendering vs the client-side, the architectural layers (or bricks) to use o

I second that. I have not followed the news about the Gremlin-to-SPARQL (or SPARQL-to-Cypher) bridge. But afaiu, making your graph system Gremlin-compatible is a first step in the right direction. (And yes, doing that on top of a SQL backen

I wonder if there are ways, in SQLite, to build indices for s,p,o/s,p/p,o/ and maybe more subtle ones... That would be uber nice, given the fact that most graph databases have their own indexing strategies, and you cannot cra

Performance issues are a very valid discussion. But to me, the availability of a graph-oriented query language on top of this graph variant of SQLite is, imho, the very first step to investigate. (RDF import/CSV import being next)
