The models use past behaviour (looking at dishwashers) to predict future behaviour (buying dishwashers). Spending cash on something is a much harder signal of interest than looking at it though. So the models would be stupid to ignore that.

And just the other month, we switched a transmission from SFTP to FTP because we couldn't be bothered to deal with the bottlenecks in the SFTP stack. HTTP? Maybe next year :-)

Haha, the reason we use computers is because the work more reliably than humans. By using indeterministic processes, commonly called AI, we effectively make them human. This can yield interesting results, but you don't want a monkey co

I would assume that most people have some sensitivity because they've been exposed to coronaviruses before. However this is not enough to quickly raise an immune response when the new variant shows up.

I find that the difficult conditions at the time are sufficient to explain the accident. Maybe we'll learn that there was unprofessional behaviour by a pilot. But until such time, that is unwarranted speculation. The linked article is

I don't see how the report in the linked article is related to Ever Given. It certainly isn't of the fateful trip because it's about a southbound journey.

As is standard for canal transit, the Evergiven was piloted by a Suez pilot at the time of the accident. Because this ship's main steering force comes from the rudder, it has more force when it goes faster. Maybe they even accelerated
