Agreed that was fun to read. I can relate as sometimes I too get angry and rant at marketing copy. And really, why does Mozilla want me to pick a color for Firefox when I just want to use it? I guess I'll stop now.

I've switched over to the Ansel fork which addresses the uncontrolled feature creep in Darktable. Mostly happy with the opinionated removal of cruft. Had to learn some new tricks, but overall my editing process is now more streamlined

We want the damn things to pass by. If we try to capture them we have to maneuver their trajectory very very close! I have no idea of astrophysics but due to their high speed the distance where they'd be in orbit would likely be below

That video scares me on multiple levels, but shouldn't an autogyro be able to slow down horizontally and autorotate to the ground? Still not great over forest though.

I keep power supplies around when the device they were supposed to power goes out of service. The collection has grown to a big crate of assorted power supplies where I can hunt for a spare. It is common that I have to solder on a plug from

Thanks for the link, that was an interesting read. As a T1 I'd say this disease should bar you from a license to fly passengers. An emergency situation in the air can go on for hours, and you don't want diabetes creating extra iss

As a carrier of another autoimmune disease, I will be tempted to flip that switch should it become available. Since I participate in pretty much all studies they offer me, I would consider joining that one too. It might be the last one they

The page doesn't even show an example setup! All I see is a HDMI dongle with no idea what the use of it is. The text doesn't help at all.

The difference is that the TV can not generate light at orange wavelengths, while auroras can! And then the twist is that what was captured by the camera was of red and green wavelength.

No the question is how the authors decided which comments were toxic for their evaluation. If they say "gut feeling" then replication will be greatly hampered.

Tanks for the context, I see what you mean about not disallowing things. I still don't understand why they released the feature if operator precedence around it could still change. But then, I don't understand the need for the fea

Thanks for the clarification. The whole thing is pretty far from the principle of least surprise for me. But so is operating on a def. Why would that be allowed if it is likely to change? Oh well, not that I needed more reasons not to use R

Oh so they knew? My understanding is that it's already released, warts and all. Did I misread? So the tradeoff is that the parsing rules of that operator may change in the future? Who would even use it if it could change again?

Sorry I was short. I mean operator precedence was not considered. In the first implementation, 'def =' has higher precedence than 'if'. Which leads to surprising behaviour with tailing ifs. The if is evaluated to determi

My take is that bugs in sh scripts are best avoided by not programming in sh. So my preferred tool for sh linting is git-rm. It's not always possible, but driving down the sh line count sure helps against bugs from this language and it
