This is no longer true. With the advance of "cashless" systems that were heavily pushed and promoted by the government, cash payments have dropped significantly![0] Cashless payments now sit near 50%, up from 16% 10 years ago. [0]

Personally, I would absolutely not mind it if Python made type annotations required.

People argue self-hosting is insecure, then open up their AWS RDS instance to the whole world because they can't figure out their IAM settings.

Windows has a concept of processor groups, that can have up to 64 (hardware) threads. I assume they updated 7zip to support multiple processor groups.

I'm a big fan of "should not include profanity, words of a vulgar nature". It's not unthinkable my password manager comes up with a chain of letters that at one point will include "fuck".

Excellent article! Well written and the animations make it so much easier to understand. However I was unable to get the loops to go.

The garbage is exactly why I stopped using Plex. Yeah, Jellyfin isn't perfect. But at least it isn't bombarding me with crap I don't need.

This sounds very, very expensive, and I would've loved to see cost mentioned in the article too. (for both S3 and R2)

Typical HN comment. Absolutely incredible tech is displayed that honestly, one year ago nobody could've imagined. Yet people still find something to moan about. I'm sure the authors of the project, who should be very proud, are fu

Quora ruined Quora. And it started well before the advance of LLMs.

Yes, I agree with you there. But managers have a responsibility to make sure systems are in place where if a worker does not self-manage or make a bad decision, this gets caught early on, not 34,000 feet up in air.

I found the Boeing manager! Perhaps you and I view the world in a different light, but in any organization where there is even some semblance of hierarchy, the manager is, at the end of the day, always responsible. If management isn’t aware

Another cool addition would be if we could autoplay the frames in order, at a rate of 24 odd frames per second. Perhaps if it’s not too much to ask can we also add the soundtrack? This way we can really appreciate the movie the way the dire

Calling Docker overkill for a “one-man sized” startup is an odd choice of words. Kubernetes, sure maybe. But deploying via containers, where orchestration can be a simple bash file beats having to git pull, pip install, and what else not on

Usually what you do with these type of LLMs is pass on most if not all of the schema in your query. And you’re right in that the end user wouldn’t have access to the schema, although perhaps via prompt injection they could.

No. “Chatting with PDFs” is (mostly) taking a users chat message, retrieve relevant content via e.g embedding search, then feed that into an LLM with a prompt that’s something along the lines of “given this information, can you answer this
