Because they want to keep getting Chinese money. It’s that simple. Same reason the NBA will work to expand in China despite the outcry of Western fans lol China found the ultimate life hack: money. Who they can’t buy they will either try to

Slave wages? How do you figure? Are you comparing eg Foxconn wages to wages of Western workers in Western factories? If so then that’s a ridiculous comparison to make because COL and culture are so different.

You wrote a lot but I am struggling to see your point. The TAs tried holding student grades hostage as leverage in their strike. Now some are withholding those grades for work they reviewed out of spite after being fired. They are hurting i

Is it Ok to strike when that will hurt innocents? I think we can all agree that having nurses strike and abandon care of their patients is unfair to those patients. This fight should be between UCSC and the graduates, not holding innocent u

Did you reply to the wrong person? By my reading we are saying the same thing. If a person cannot overtake quickly enough then they are at fault for impeding the “rocketship” traffic behind them.

If you as a driver or your vehicle cannot move quickly enough to overtake another car on the autobanh then the fault is with you. That “rocketship” behind you should not have to decelerate because of this. The other poster is right: you are

Did you do all your own research or did you go through a specialist? Hopefully you are getting regular monitoring and testing because big health problems can sneak up on you over time.

Agreed. The rhetoric now is even worse because some people maintain that “words = violence” and real violence is needed to shut down this “wrong think”. I think some people would be amazed if they realized that it’s OK when people disagree[

Hobestly it doesn’t have to be. Ban majority of data collection aspects and be done with it. We are wringing our hands over the issue when in reality we can solve it like the Gordian Knot.

To put what OP wrote in tl;dr format: Get good, like REALLY good, at one specific thing. You don’t have to reach levels of a pro, but if I ask you “what are you good at” you wouldn’t even have to think before you told me. This mastery will

I wouldn’t. Why is the knee-jerk reaction to solve problems (especially trivial ones like this) with more red tape and bureaucracy? Remember that HN is a bubble. We might care about bloatware, but maybe millions of regular users don’t (or e

Absolutely not. Spying, even on America’s friends, is important for our foreign policy and for staying on top. I think you are confusing the world of geopolitics with concepts like “fair” and “good” and forgetting Lord Palmerston’s quote: “

You are right. What some people want is to punish your success by arbitrarily deciding how much money is “too much” and using taxes to take away what they think you should not have.

The company must provide benefits required by law. Everything else is discretionary. What’s definitely optional is for a company to take a stance on a political issue just because a vocal minority of their employees demands that.
