Wow, Tor is still a thing? We have confirmation that security agencies have taken over exit nodes and injected spyware before to track targets. I'm surprised anyone uses it. It's like the security lottery.

Honestly, some of the best brain science ever was by accidental injuries removing some portion of the brain and scientists getting to study the difference. So being able to pick and choose now is ground breaking. It's the equivalent of

I think the story is kind of worthless and stupid too, but you can try to hand wave your way to getting something out of it. E.g. there are so many planets, there must be life and other intelligent species on some of them, but we can't

Although a prototype was demo'ed at SXSW, we just managed to finish everything needed for a public beta last week and showed it off at a Wearable World Labs FashTech event. Right now an APK has to be downloaded from the site and instal

Wow, a business article saying money sitting in a bank account does nothing? Are they that clueless? It is leveraged many times over and invested and used by the bank. Putting a dollar in the bank lets the bank pretend they have forty.

It doesn't make any business sense to do it any other way. Checking if requests are valid costs money. Following requests blindly costs almost nothing, just a single internet page is lost out of millions. Google makes money off the lon

Honestly, I couldn't care less if my YouTube video stream was encrypted or not. So I'm on the side of the original poster. That said, Google obviously is against that. So I guess he should have just pushed for newer cipher support

Had to look it up on Wikipedia myself: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chumby I do vaguely remember it now. Surprised he doesn't just do a Chumby 2 on kickstarter.

What's really annoying is when a site lets you login via social login like HN once did, then removes it, and you have to start all over with a new account. ;/

A founder of Reddit came and talked at a hackathon in NYC once - he said everyone involved ran tons of fake accounts at first. :)

This is a nice piece about engineering. However, it would be nice to see an A/B test for what the users prefer. The technical drawbacks don't seem large compared to, say, +1% better conversion rate for people seeing your URL in me

A fashion finder for Google Glass! Public beta that you can sideload available here: https://acemoda.com/ Still a long road to walk polishing it and getting it into the official My Glass console, though.

I really hate the new maps too and find it more difficult to do pretty much anything. Glad a designer got to make an exec happy by redesigning it into crap, though. At least someone benefitted.

As a user I've been really unhappy with their designs lately. I often have to click around in maps to try to figure out how the heck to change it from one type of nav to another, for example. There's also often tons of mystery ico

Not really. There have been monkey studies showing males like physical things like cars and girls like nurturing things like dolls. It's PC to deny genetic differences in play at this point, but it isn't scientific.
