That's not how it works. People build ML solutions not because they went through rigorous analysis and figured out their problem needs ML solution. They just want to do ML and are looking for a problem that can be solved with it. Then

I would not discount working on a side project alongside your day job. I think the absolute greatest benefit of this is that if your project doesn't work the only thing you have lost is some of your time and effort. I know people who h

That energy argument depends a lot. My parents have their own well. It is less than 2m from the side of the house. Bottom of the well is about 2m below ground level, so you can almost stand in the well and stick your head out. There is usua

I wouldn't say it is harmful (just like that). If you do you would have to apply the same to all tradition as repeating things regardless of whether you know the benefits of it. In the past, tradition was one of ways to pass knowledge.

If people moved there would be reason to save water and then I would be doing it See, there is already a lot of stuff to worry about in life. If you can act on a hypothetical problem, why not redirect your effort to an actual one for some r

It was circa 1998. It was 386DX, 96MB of memory, had monochromatic monitor, no enclosure (it rested on a towel) and no mouse (yes, I programmed graphical UIs without a mouse). Obviously no networking of any kind. Yes, it had more memory tha

Humankind does not need to be defended from supervolcano eruption. A bunch of people will survive and continue "humankind". On the other if you are in to save actual human lives, lack of food is going to be your biggest worry.

You aware that most cows do not live on nice farms when they get to wander around and eat grass? Grass-fed cows are slow to bulk up. That's why they are fed with much more calorie-rich food like grain.

The best idea that comes to my mind is to go vegetarian and to learn to distribute food better. We are already producing way more food that people need. If we just stopped feeding it to cows, pigs and chicken, readjusted production for more

My first PC I ever owned was scrap gathered from my friends. My only HDD was 120MB Conner Peripherals HDD that fell on asphalt out of jacket pocket of my friend while he was riding a bike (no kidding!) and was crisscrossed with bad sectors.

I can recommend With Folded Hands. I think I listened to it on Audible, there is a bunch of anthologies of short SF stories. It is not long, but it is for sure scary. Scary when you look outside and you start seeing similarities.
