Yeah, to be fair it's not as black or white as I suggested. But it's super difficult to gauge the actual impact of your work anyway, most of the time.

Companies exist generally to make money first, and any societal benefit is a side effect. Beware of companies that promise otherwise - they're lying either to themselves or to you. Either take the hit on the paycheck and work for a non

In many cases, the front end doesn't need to read the JWT, just pass it on to some API. An encrypted JWT is still convenient as it can be decrypted and deserialized into a common data structure using existing libraries.

It's the other way round - the front-end shouldn't need to read JWTs, just pass them on.

As a broke student, I would pay €20 a year. Monthly billing for productivity/creativity apps scares me for some reason. That is meant just as a data point for you, not to diminish your work (which is awesome).

It's still a bunch of work but I think i like that one a lot more. It's more open ended and less 'worship us, btw what is your favourite distro?'.

Exactly. This does not seem like a cool place to work.

There aren't many jobs in Cobol or Fortran, and they tend to be powering things that aren't very junior-friendly. I would go for C#, Java, or (if you have a masochistic streak) C++. And SQL. Honestly Go seems to be over its honeym

TIL of Quarto... nice! I think Pryrite also has value - the terminal integration could be super useful for some tasks (especially for those of us that don't know emacs or its org mode)
