Genuine question... but is the DevEx of modern React actually better than what it was back in ye-olden-days? I don't use React (I main Vue), so I can't speak authoritatively. But as an outside observer it feels like React gets pro

Counter-counter point. The only reason the world hasn't collapsed into a giant puddle of N-squared recursive CPU execution is because Excel's limitations place natural boundaries on the blast-radius of any single SME's poorly

Exactly! The logs only need to hold ID's that you can correlate back to hydrated data later. GDPR request comes in, just delete the record the ID refers to and you're done.

Using anonymous ID's that you can (manually) correlate to a real users + a reasonable log retention period is perfectly GDPR compliant and let's you retain all the benefits.

At therapeutic doses this is literally the opposite of true. There have been studies done that show therapeutic doses of amphetamines over a multi-year period actually INCREASED the level of dopamine receptor expression in the brain. It was

Ummm sorry what? It's been demonstrated more times than I can count that Autism has a physiological basis, not a psychological one.

Just be careful with this line of reasoning though please. It's already hard enough for people outside of the USA to access treatment for things like ADHD when they want to, it doesn't help to have a bunch of people walking around

I mean, in a pinch you can just run a build to compile it down to a single JS bundle with zero external dependencies and then mount it into your app. Not ideal, but works.

This is kinda my point, we see something like a UAP and we assume it's enormously advanced technology compared to what we know, but the reality is, what we've "seen" is only one major discovery in physics ahead of where

IMO it's more likely that they're a very carefully orchestrated piece of "deterrence theatre" on the part of the USA. It's not outside the bounds of possibility for the US to have some kind of "trump card"

It's interesting that this report seems VERY scoped to specifically looking for things of "extra-terrestrial" origin. Like, I get that most of the headlines about this stuff get clicks by talking about "zomg aliens"

To be fair, the search engine monopoly has done a pretty good job of making that information quite difficult to actually find. Not impossible, but much more difficult than you might assume.

Yeah, but demonizing the individual because of the people who follow him is a bit logically inconsistent. Granted, he doesn't fully comprehend the impact things he says and does can have when they're amplified through the mountain

I'm sure the person that invented mantras like "seperation of concerns" and "single responsibility principle" did so based on their trauma of building a billing system. The biggest mistake I see companies making is

Just a quick note on this, it's not entirely appropriate to blame selective breeding "in general" for those issues. Quite often those issues come from specific selective breeding practises designed to make the dogs more "

This has always been my theory (as someone with the condition). The human species has benefitted greatly from having 3-4% of us being constantly restless and always NEEDING to know "what new thing can we do NOW!!"

What a lot of this misses is the issue of bandwidth. Chat based interfaces are great when your area of investigation is incredibly narrow and you want highly focused, precise answers. It's terrible when you want broad swaths of input t

My point was that non-deterministic outputs make LLM's fundamentally a BAD foundation for something like an OS. Natural language interfaces belong at the periphery, as the interface between the human and the machine. Other than that, I
