10's of millions of PC gamers? I think you're off by a huge margin. I believe DFC reported that there's over a billion PC gamers in the world in 2020. It's a billion dollar market in itself.

I was going to post this but you beat me to it. We are forced to use Azure for business reasons where I work, and the frequency of one off failures and outages is insane.

I have the complete opposite experience. Places that have hundreds of bash scripts that they manually run in a loop like your example are normally a one off nightmare of random changes in random places with zero consistency, tons of edge ca

Can't say I've ever really thought of YAML as complex. Especially when the Ansible modules are translating things so you can just define the action you want to take, and each module is very well documented.

You can hook ansible roles into your Packer process pretty easily. That's what I do at least.

Piggybacking on your comment, not agreeing with the previous poster. Currently using all of the tooling you've mentioned on-premise and it's great! Using DNS Anycast (cloudflare/akamai/insert provider) and LB technology

If you need 4-6 devops people to run infra from the ground up you're doing it wrong. I've seen 4 man devops/ops teams run thousands of machines at scale. Unless you're talking about a huge magnitude of infra (which you&#

What network are you running where you're giving each virtual machine a /24? That's insane. 10/8 should go very far if you do it correctly, hence why it's in use in almost all internal networks.

Looks like that functionality is locked behind the Enterprise edition correct?

No they are doing their job of filtering out garbage from most websites, and it's an option that the site-owner can enable. Is this such a novel thing to look for outliers in web traffic and offer ways to mitigate risks?

Yup there sure is, but the Cloudflare hate bandwagon has started. This is more on the site-owner than Cloudflare in my opinion.

Look at any big cloud provider or CDN and the same can be said. If you don't have a DR plan in place to bypass a CDN provider in a downtime situation then you're doing something wrong. (assuming it isn't a hobby project)

That's optional and has been for awhile now I believe, you can CNAME from your own DNS provider. While that does rely on their DNS for that one record, it means you still have control to changeover if need be.

I played Eve for awhile and was in one of the bigger alliances, and knew people who did just that. It seemed to give them purpose and I really can't blame them. However I'm unsure if living off of social benefits was a product of

I'd argue that they all have their place. Anything of great length that's related to something product wise that has impact should be discussed in an epic or ticket that links the main point back. As anyone who's followed a g

That's so strange to me, how do you define equal opportunity when you directly affect that opportunity based on third party factors out of someones control.

Is it fair to claim equal opportunity when you give more opportunities to other people? You are ultimately selecting the factors which could affect the outcome of that opportunity. How is that not discrimination? How do you pick and choose

Yeah I can't stand the forced password changes where you can't use the last X passwords, or passwords that expire every 30 days. A lot of times it's security compliance entities that push this down to companies, for instance

Not sure I'm qualified to answer all of your questions on this but, from a networking perspective.. Private subnets will allow you to reduce your exposure to the Internet, also can reduce costs with something like a NAT gateway. It

Off topic, but as a network guy by heart I've always been fairly happy with how AWS implements the network side of things, especially in comparison to something like Azure. AWS you have the same basic concepts of a network, and the ter

I'd argue that if you're not doing a home setup, you should use fiber for anything 10GBe+. Less latency and power draw.
