Another good argument in favor of doing so is that establishing a connection has a non-zero time cost. Further, your server may not have the workers to spare (so that extra connection is going to sit until the server's queue isn't backed up

Meeting rooms can change, but if you have a regularly scheduled meeting you will go there out of habit. Another thing is I've had my meetings bumped to a different room (particularly if I reserve a large room but have few attendees) (Not al

Thankfully there is this concept of mixins (and, gasp, multiple inheritance), to solve some of these issues.

Small side comment: Google is just about the least affirming place I've worked. I've never been lauded for doing anything "clever", since (I assume), that should be taken as a matter of course. One place I worked at my boss would occasional

Note that a "small sample" does not mean the same thing as a "represntative sample". You really care about the latter, and the former will only sometimes skew the latter. "Sample size is too small, so I don't want to consider X paper" alway

I use virtual desktops and use multiple screens. I find it much easier to glance back and forth between two screens (or three, or four) than to switch virtual desktops and locate something. (This may be a training effect though)

The cheaper option would be to run a compile and open any of the many different programs in Windows that tells you whether you're using lots of CPU, RAM or IO-waiting. Then you go AHA! I'll spend money on CPUs or making my compiler/build pa

I believe that bartenders are not allowed to serve drinks to people that are too intoxicated. I think one could simply apply a similar thing, perhaps with subtle social pressures to smoke marijuana in public places?

Its pretty interesting that Google seems to acquire several companies, and then awhile later mix them all together and launch something else. I imagine infrastructure and code can rarely be reused from company to company, so I'm not quite s

You know that if you started off with metric, metric would feel intuitive too right? (Aza Raskin has a video where he basically says that what most people call intuitive they really mean "familiar".)

(Agree with most of your points) Yahoo and Google have both posted things before to the effect of "web authors: it'd really help us out if you did X", and often times the other will adopt the convention. The spec only describes some uses of
