I don't know what that's referring to. Maybe it was done in an internal meeting?

Ignorant is a bit of a strong word here. The reason why people index on college so much is they are looking at the data... https://www.pewresearch.org/social-trends/2014/02/11/the-ris... This is not to s

I used to love listening to All Things Considered followed by Planet Money every day on my grueling commute home from work. It was my only companion. I haven't turned it on in years. I mourn the loss. Living in a red area NPR was a muc

I agree and would rate it one of the top sci-fi series of all time. The office aesthetic is so well done and there is not a single bad role or actor. I keep waiting for season 2. Nothing else measures up.

Even the most idealistic can change their tune as soon as they begin to be negatively affected. A good example might be Oregon completely walking back their drug legalization or San Francisco drug testing for welfare. https://abc

It is hell. Every time. Many men who return with PTSD do so not because of what they saw, but because of what they did.

I think this verdict is both good and bad. We've been dragging people through the mud over nothing now for a while and celebrating it. Society is sick. It needs to stop. At the same time, I worry about a "chilling" effect on

Web components are great! HTMX is great! But there is no answer for WHAT ABOUT THE JAVASCRIPT. You can't build a web app without it, so...what about bundling? What about binding? What about state? Yes, I understand that I'm doing

I had the same thought. Unfortunately, I think males are the ones in an epidemic of loneliness. Girls have easy options for immediate companionship - just jump on any dating app and swipe right once. That said, it’s the same guys hooking up

I don't understand this. HCQ is taken for malaria prophylaxis as recommended by the CDC. Are we saying that the CDC is recommending a drug that could potentially kill people? And they recommend it for use in all trimesters of pregnancy

This is so obviously the right answer, I can’t believe its not upvoted more. To be clear, I stand with the union on the principal of their argument. However, the principals of economics itself, much like gravity, do not care about the nobil

Historically yes, but that was quite a while ago - none of that has been the case for quite a while. The real push against men started maybe ~10 years ago? Or at least that’s when I noticed women I worked with being openly hostile to “men”

I'm curious on this as well - although a VR headset at this point feels like a foul ball straight backwards and into the net. Apple is good at a lot of things but it is AWFUL at AI. Siri is still the worst experience you can have with

Much of how humans handle their own suffering is determined by their world view. Knowledge workers tend to have a view that we should never be uncomfortable in our jobs. Ever. For a lot of blue collar workers, being uncomfortable is just pa

As I understand it, it's the gaps in the summer that account for the gaps in education. That's Gladwell's assertion. When kids have gaps without learning at an early age, they fall behind quickly and it is devastating.

Malcom Gladwell covers this in Outliers. There is something that can be done, but it has to be done starting in pre-school and continuing through second grade. And that "something" is that you don't get a summer. You learn ye

I live in the Nashville area as well. I’m sorry this is the state of things where you are. The walkable areas have all become super expensive because everyone wants to live there.

Yes. I’m just pointing out that what I see as the backlash against trans (which is often unhinged) is simply a response to trans activism, which is likewise unhinged. And that, suppressing the speech of either of those groups is a bad idea.
