The other way to look at this is that this guy’s whole Twitter thread is not in the spirit of open source. It’s not about you. It’s about improving life for everyone by freely sharing code. If you want it to be about you, don’t pick MIT fro

I disagree. If a man were to accomplish something against the odds, that would just be a man being a man. Why is it any different when it’s a woman? This stuff is patronizing.

I find the “amazing, look what a woman did!” narrative to be incredibly insulting. But congrats to Lisa Su as the person who turned AMD around. They have, IMO, utterly eclipsed Intel. I wouldn’t buy anything else.

It’s not that it’s not working. It’s that it’s not a sustainable model. Or if it is, we need to cut a LOT of other stuff.

I’ve never understood why people think this is a good idea. If you share your salary with someone, it will go one of two ways - either they will be angry that you make more or you will be resentful that they make more than you. I don’t see

Facebook is not all bad. It is certainly concerning and some may hold the opinion that social media is tearing society apart, but there is at least as much positive about it as negative. People who work there go for the positive. So Zuck ra

I agree, but on the flip side, these guys aren’t doing anything to better themselves. They can’t hold down relationships and they wouldn’t be able to support a family anyway. I don’t think this is the kind of behavior we want to incentivize

I have at least 3 friends who were working retail jobs who were on unemployment for over a year. 1 has gone back to work. 2 still milk it. They just figured out how to live VERY modestly. It’s mostly trailers and video games.

Why do we not expand capacity? Where is the planning here? Where are the national guard hospitals we setup and then took down last year. We are in a pandemic and it’s not like that’s new news.

I just recently recovered from a breakthrough case (double jab Moderna) and the fear was absolutely the worst part. You scrutinize every breath. Check your oxygen constantly. Sit around wondering if tomorrow is the day you go to the ER. Or

This is basically the conservative argument that you don’t have a basic right to health care. If you can’t afford it, you don’t get it. I’m not saying that logic is flawed, but we should at least be consistent. If healthcare is a human righ

Very true. Again - nobody really seems to care about black males despite the avalanche of hashtags.

Not sure why the downvotes here. This is an objectively true fact. And worse is that it’s not limited to white males. Nobody cares about our young black men either. 1/5 die of homicide while we reduce our police presence as if they are

I can’t agree with this more. I also think it’s tragic that “CRT” has been turned into an ideology. It’s a useful lens for looking at any given problem, institution, system. But it’s NOT the gospel of truth. The net result is that we can’t

I’m a stat here and so is my sister. Both of us pulled kids out last year due to the unworkable situation of having a small child sit in zoom calls all day.

The truth matters a great deal to anyone who has suffered and lost. It’s not unique to the pandemic. The parent who has lost a child. The spouse who has been cheated on. The employee who has been unjustly fired. They want the truth. The not

I’m with you on this. I think kids getting it is the key to us getting out of the cycle. Despite media hysteria, the risk to children is extremely low. So low that the UK isn’t going to vaccinate most kids at all. https://www.new

I don’t see any that look plausible. I would prefer a liberal democracy but I think we’re going to veer into right or left wing fascism because eventually we have to stop the bleeding and an authoritarian element will be required to do that

The problem is that it IS a purely economic problem. It's just math - supply, demand and competition. Small business in particular is captured by these forces. It cannot increase prices because people will go to the competition. And it
