Wow, I haven't been working on projects of such scale, but I supposed that existing infrastructure (make, gcc etc.) is good for large projects. Does it mean that there's something wrong with the current state of affairs that you have to reb

You might want that if you want to have your setup with you no matter where on Earth you happen to be. I was thinking of using a dedicated server for this for a while, with visualization maybe: a VM for server, a VM for my desktop... Using

That's the thing, I didn't see any difference (granted, that was on my quite recent laptop, but that's what I had for testing). Memory constraint was real in my case: I was going to use this on a computer that had either 256 MB or less. I g

I've heard that Xfce is lighter and faster, but have you really checked whether it is still so? I performed some superficial testing when I needed to install a simple system that could run a browser on an old computer and I didn't find any

Hi, I'm definitely interested in benchmarking the EC2 instances. Are you doing some benchmarks that are CPU-intensive? You're measuring the one instance that you've got to use as a server, aren't you? (I'm interested more in, "what perfoman

It looks strange to me that High-CPU Instances didn't come as clear winners in compilation tests. I thought of choosing only between c1.medium and c1.xlarge for my CPU-intensive tasks. Looks like I should look closely into all types of inst

While it seems not technically right, e.g. CDMA seems to be used here and there around the world, I am reassured in my opinion that if you intend to use your cell phone/modem not exclusively on your home operator's network, you'd better sti

Is Verizon's CDMA network technically compatible with anywhere else in the world? (e.g. so that you can us the same phone in U.S and elsewhere, provided it is not locked) Specifically, which frequency band does U.S. CDMA use?

Regarding OS X version: how do you go about upgrading OS X? I am a new Mac user. I was given a free 2008 MacBook 13" in colledge. It came with Mac OS 10.5.2 installed, which couldn't run some new programs, so I did an update and it updated
