If someone paid me $800k per year, I would be retired in three years. You’re right on the behavioral aspect, for sure.

The original base model Mac Mini was $824 in 2005 (in 2024 dollars). The current base model at Best Buy is $500. The price on the Mac Mini now is significantly cheaper and I’m not even sure if the performance is remotely comparable.

The decade you’re looking for where Mac vs PC was remotely relevant was two decades ago. It’s OK to let it go.

Now people will complain that 16 GB isn’t enough and 32 GB should be standard. ;)

> The days where a cop, judge or prosecutor identified as the function they render to society are over, I suspect. It’s work life balance all the way. This is terrifying and also true in many other industries, including software.

I drive an EV and love it, it’s our only vehicle. But many of my fellow Americans aren’t going to drive anything but gas until they’re unable to buy it.

The faster we burn through fossil fuels (especially Oil and Natural Gas), the sooner the transition will be. The only question will be how painful it is.

Many (not all, obviously) boomers will never buy an EV because of identity politics in the midwestern United States. I wouldn’t be surprised if this is true elsewhere as well. Why they’re not pumping out $25k 250 mile range city cars for mi

I don’t like pop-ups, regardless of the sort. There should be browser support for global opt-out or opt-in.

Slack was crazy. Aside from huddles I can’t think of a single feature I’ve used that they’ve added since their acquisition by Salesforce. Like what are they doing with so many people? (I know that’s a trope, but seriously…)

There’s been too much consolidation bordering on monopolies. Whenever you hear about two companies merging and laying off thousands of staff, maybe it’s time to stop letting that happen.
