I bet poor manufacturer, or poor quality, or poor batch. Also maybe NC (normally closed) vs NO (normally open) behave differently? In any case, the ones we use are solid, especially given they are installed on damp AC ice-water circuits.

I hated AI from the start, but then gradually warmed up to it. It does help me to write code. And it gets better every day, sometimes literally. Today I think it is a tool. Like a framer's nail gun. It helps us to be faster and potenti

Only cats can violate Pauli's principle. Anybody who had a cat can attest to the fact they can go through walls. Just close a room with a cat inside and - given enough time - the cat will escape.

I get a heart attack whenever I have to view core file from a decently complicated C++ program. The amount of template-in-a-template-in-a-template...(and this continues for some time) is not so readable to me. Maybe it is just me.

In Poland smaller companies tell you outright: this and that person is on vacation, but plese call back in 2 weeks. Bigger companies will often ignore you and drag your problem through the vacation time.

To me, putting up a fight against the obstacles is the key to satisfying life. Yes, I'm not always winning (duh!), but it is the act of defiance that does it for me. So yes, make peace, but do continue to say "I can do it" be

"[...] bottleneck isn't in writing the code. It is in reading and understanding the code". 100% agreed! Furthermore, the more code is generated by AI, the fewer people will actually understand it!

Packet round trip between US and EU is approx. 100ms. Given acceptable latency for voice communication is below 300ms, we should not worry about that too much.

In some games - most famously Doom - entire multiplayer is based on exchanging just the inputs and the games on all connected computers are deterministic enough to provide same outcome on all of them. I am one of the authors of Fire Fight g

Some things are idioms that one repeats so often they just stick, e.g. I use "grep.... | cut -c x-y | sort | uniq -c | sort -nr" to quickly grep frequency of some events from a log file. Don't feel bad - no one remembers them

As with every bubble, we, the people, will pay for it. There will be recession, inflation and general "one step back" to hopefully move "two steps forward" one day in the future.

It is a double edged sword - the U.S. manufacturers no longer have to compete with potentially better products from overseas, they can push lower quality to the local market for the same price.

I have 4 crowns, 2 done using moulds, 2 using the 3d scanner. Same doc, same office. The moulded ones were ok with some adjustments, but the 3d scanned ones were perfect since day 1. I'm happy with the progress in dentistry.
