Their own description of the app says > We launched an App that let you customize your iPhone to look like a 2000s era MP3 player. It's pretty obvious what the intention is. And while I don't know precisely how skins work, it

Even so, I wouldn't consider this a syntax error, because the error isn't with the syntax but with using an identifier in a context where that particular identifier isn't allowed (but others are). This would make it more akin

The app appears to have been explicitly designed to enable cloning the iPod Classic interface, and making that skin something you download separately was a workaround because it’s pretty obvious that it would get rejected if it shipped that

It seems frankly ludicrous to claim Apple pulled an iPod simulator for iPhone because they want you to buy physical iPods, especially given that they don't sell physical iPods anymore. The app seems tailor-made to reproduce Apple'

I'm curious why this is reported as a SyntaxError. This doesn't seem like a syntactical problem to me, but a semantical one.

I love the idea of Hammerspoon but I have yet to figure out a single concrete use-case for me that I actually care about. It feels like a lot of what I see people talking about is window management but I don't want window management (I

If the nil value for a slice is the empty slice, then why do the following two variable definitions differ in behavior? var x []int; y := []int{}; Both produce a slice of capacity zero, except `x` serializes to null and `y` seriali

It is admittedly very weird that Go supports nil slices/maps instead of just having the nil value be an empty slice/map that points to constant storage. But as long as Go has a semantic difference internally, representing that as

Why would you want to marshal a nil slice to json as non-null? That just hides the fact that you had a nil slice. In fact, that's the exact opposite problem; representing nulls as empty arrays.

When testing on clang, the first and last examples produce radically different code even when both using -Os or -O3. The choice of flag does affect the code emitted, but it doesn't change the article's point as xor512d does it 16

A non-backtracking regex engine like re2 should be linear with respect to the regex size and can be configured with a memory budget.

The input tag already has a 'pattern' attribute that is a regex that the input must match to be valid.

Apple doesn't have an ads system, unless you mean the App Store ads that only show up in App Store search (and thus are completely unrelated to Safari). They had an ads system at one point but it was shut down over 3 years ago, and was

Intelligent Tracking Prevention and content blockers aren't the same thing though. I don't know if ITP runs for WKWebView but I really hope so.

The rendering engine also includes the entire network infrastructure. I can't think of how I would plug my own network infrastructure into WKWebView on iOS, which means I can't block any built-in tracking prevention.

Isn't that because previously it was just a measure of signal strength and wasn't a good measure of data quality / latency / bandwidth? A proper signal meter takes both strength and noise into account.

Looks like this doesn't bring back the markup help text in the lower-right corner, which is a shame. I really wish they'd just highlight your markup in the appropriate style while leaving the markup intact. That would solve the &q

What does MySQL have to do with this? It seems it was RFC3629¹ that restricted the domain of UTF-8 to cap at U+10FFFF and therefore remove 5- and 6-byte encodings. ¹ https://tools.ietf.org/html/rfc3629
