I’m actually happy that any chat message in teams is pretty much gone forever as soon as is it off the screen. It keeps people from using it for anything other than one off questions.

I wonder what is unlocked by creating their chip that couldn’t also be achieved using intel and nvidia products? Surely the same product can be delivered but the main difference is energy use? What % of google’s costs is energy? Is the whol

There are probably 100 cities in the fly over states just like KC. I live in a small town because I could not afford the big city near by. Life is full of compromises, not living in the most expensive city in the country shouldn’t be consid

I randomly chose Kansas City Kansas and there are houses there for less than 200k that looked ok. Living in San Francisco is not necessary. Live somewhere cheaper and stop complaining that desireable places to live are more expensive.

I thought we were taking about battery capacity preventing a blackout during a major grid outage and not installed renewable capacity meeting the demand.

Or a lot of difference in elevation. With 900m head you can get 8 MW from only 1.5 m^3/s in a pipe less than 2 feet in diameter.

Generally outages, deratings, and unavailable equipment have to be reported to the system operator. Not doing so and then claiming for lost revenue from broken equipment due to curtailment would be fraud.

Nit: the steam is not released to atmosphere, it is sent directly to the condensers. Treated water to use in boilers and turbines without leaving deposits and damaging them is precious, so it is a closed cycle and not vented to atmosphere w

I have also found old papers to be the best for learning a new concept - they make it as simple as it can be. A colleague of mine wrote a paper that proves that negative numbers exist and would often cite archimedes, Galileo, newton, etc in

Nuclear plants can respond to changes in reactive power demand in ~100ms. It is a function of the voltage regulator and not the prime mover. Perhaps you didn’t mean reactive?

Do you have week long blackouts currently? In any given year you can count on a week where a panel only produces 10%. It just has to be cloudy or rainy. However much solar we add, even with storage to get through a night, needs some other s
