And then some server vendors insist on on doing some out of bound interrupts from their management engines, which introduce odd latency spikes that are hard to debug.

It was not always like that. There was a time when companies were not using so many finance tricks and had better resilience and balance sheets. Unfortunately, since the 80's there has been a trend of increased financialization of the

Akash looks cool! I am working on a self hosting solution ( https://protos.io ) that is similar to Sandstorm, and I've been dreaming of a way to deploy VMs on various cloud providers, without requiring an account creation bef

Synapse is a beast. I am looking forward to a more compact server to become viable. Matrix is working on Dendrite ( https://github.com/matrix-org/dendrite ) and there is Conduit ( https://conduit.rs ) as well.

I agree, but I think that is more of a long term concern. The USD will be dumped as the worlds reserve currency but I presume this will be a long and volatile process. There are 2 reasons why I think the USD will slowly be dethroned as the

Short term, the USD will probably strengthen because of huge demand from emergent markets and other places that have USD denominated loans. For more info you can watch the Dollar Milkshake theory [1], or some of the work Raoul Pal has done.

"The $1200 money isn't free, it is borrowed from future taxpayers." That is debatable. They say this but at some point you have to wonder, will they have the capacity to take it off the balance sheet without massive inflation

I agree. That is why I stopped using languages that have a poor concurrency story. Also, using an external queue and workers considerably increases the operational complexity of the system. An in-process solution with some light persistence

There is no shortage of atrocious examples, like this one, that prove that people need to take digital sovereignty seriously. Our data and our interactions should not be intermediated by some digital feudalistic lord, without any recourse w

If you are a target of the NSA or some other state actor, then perhaps. If not, and you take a bit of care to disable the voice assistant on your devices (Siri, Google. etc), then you should be fine.
