I guess time will tell, but from what I’ve seen I don’t think they’d hold back. There was a company which literally handed their database to Troy after a breach so everyone would be on equal footing to the attackers.

Can anyone comment on whether this will be useful for training neural networks?

What about my TV, my phone, my iPad? The way I see it the only workable solution to privacy against my ISP is to do it all at the gateway. And in that instance, I need ~50mbit which tor can’t provide.

If we’re talking about privacy of tor vs VPN, I want my entire network protected at the gateway, so not sure how the tor network keeps up with streaming video etc? I wasn’t aware of the attack surface reduction, I’ll take a look at that, th

I know I have an unexplainable bias toward seeing google as inherently positive to society, so I’m keen to hear what makes you think google is evil?

two reasons: speed and security. Speed is self explanatory, security may not be obvious. I don’t believe Firefox to be on par with Chrome. It was years behind getting a sandbox, and doesn’t appear to have the engineering or QA focus on secu

“That little ISP who has no real use of it” I would say “that giant ISP corporation who had enough power to lobby the government into changing laws so they can get access to your browsing history to sell” Which is a little more worrying

I use dnscrypt also, figuring that even though that puts my browsing traffic in another persons hands, they can’t easily correlate it with my address, phone number, name, etc etc

If you’ve got a VPN, why not everything? You’re currently leaking a ton of data via DNS and HTTP certs, aren’t you? You are indeed protected against active content injection, but that’s rarely the problem with a for-pay ISP

This is one of the coolest things I’ve seen in a long time. Do you work in a machine shop to have access to that type of tooling?

It was obviously the employees who implemented his plans, but those same employees were working there while the company is in utter freefall, so it would seem he clearly had some disproportionate positive impact, no?

I’ve never studied in China, but having spent a reasonable amount of time working in a Chinese tech company, I do agree. It’s not that there wasn’t creativity, but the culture very strongly did not allow for anyone to perform duties or task

It’s not even for every update, that setting seems to revert at least daily for me. It’s very rare I see google going for a desperate and annoying UX, but this is infuriating - I’m glad I’m not the only one.

“but really these kids should be encourage to join more legit events” It sounds like you were so close to engaging them, but decided to call them the “cardboard wing class” and laugh. I’ve been in both of these groups over my lifetime, and
