For example, the React team provide a set of codemods to help automatically upgrade codebases when there is a new version of React ( https://github.com/reactjs/react-codemod ). Until `recast` gets TypeScript support, eve

Personally I've moved away from the TypeScript compiler and towards the betas of `babel@7` and `@babel/preset-typescript` ( https://www.npmjs.com/package/@babel/preset-typescript ). It seems to be faster a

It would be non-consensual if you didn't give affirmative consent. However, reading this, it seems that affirmative consent was given at all times, first to taking drugs and then to making out (or having sex) so this article is basical

I don't think we disagree but I do think you're absolving the sins of social assholes because of the sins of asocial assholes. I've met rockstar asshole programmer's before, but I think it is overblown -- I do not think

This 'brilliant technologist that is impossible to work with' mythos needs to die. The majority of us are normal people and don't deserve to be stereotyped in this way. A broader, more liberal education isn't a waste, bu

This is true, but can I just pay devil's advocate here. What if you're exceptionally stoic and enjoy learning things in your spare time? If you're emotionally stable enough and a hard worker outside of your career, you might

I've been thinking about this lately, too. I strongly believe this, to the extent that I have a preference for code which is simple but incorrect over complicated but correct. Obviously simple and correct is best, but if I can't g

Elon Musk is an engineer. If his production line isn't as efficient as it should be it will get fixed 'scientifically'. I'd agree with you if his background was different.

My point is that those transpiled languages aren't that stymied. You can use them without a lot of problems, and they're being left on the bench for reasons other than their feature set. Companies generally choose JavaScript becau

People aren't choosing between those languages based on performance or avoiding any due to missing features. I've never heard of anybody doing that. People generally choose languages due to assumptions about their hiring pool.

It's hard to be objective on this. A modern JavaScript engineer would point out that: - The community is very accepting of new engineers. - The ecosystem is huge and there are great solutions available to many problems. -
