Bah. I pay for the Economist, and I've paid for LWN in the past. I think a subscription model for premium content is more respectable than deceptive advertising.

You're comparing apples to oranges, kind of. What you're saying isn't necessarily reflective of Mint 12; it could just as well be Ubuntu 11.10.

Typically, when a site pulls that kind of thing, I cease to use the site. I'm not interested in buying anything, and by distracting my eyes from legitimate content with your "get a foot in the door" ads, you earn a big red X from me.

I signed up for AI and DB classes next to a 45 hour/week job, and dropped the AI course. I'm having trouble keeping up while maintaining a life, but it is possible, though! Seriously, consider only one class if you have any trouble self-reg

Why is everyone attacking this article? So what if their reason is subjective? They want people who enjoy working on the whole stack. They have fun doing that, and that's all the reason they need. They aren't saying that "people who use the

With a uniform code of law, and a watcher for the watchers, I think private security for towns and cities can work. Look at anyone with lots of money: They're already paying for private security services (technological or human) because the

I'm not going to downvote you, I'll just correct your logic.Your parent is someone who was doing what you're doing now: calling people out on HN etiquette. The OP making fun of the tea party is the true culprit here.

It's easy to talk shit on the Internet... Obviously, I support your business idea, and I look forward to it shaking banks up a bit. If the product is strong enough, a generic brand won't kill the business. I still believe BankSimple was a b

I don't see a reference to GLONASS in the sub's page. Edit: It angers me that high-ranking users abuse their priviledge to downvote. I'm making a legitimate point here; I don't see "GLONASS" or any reference to alternative GPS in that page.
