I'm the same. The only exception is on mobile, sometimes I'll use the quick pinned bookmarks on the new tab page. But on desktop I load a homepage when I launch the browser and only open a new tab when I need to enter a URL or sea

How often do people actually end up typing these random passwords though? Personally, I almost always can copy/paste or autofill. For devices like TVs, it seems like many of them let you pair via a QR code or other mechanism. And sure,

I use Firefly III ( https://firefly-iii.org ). It's a self-hosted web app which is nice for me because I tend to use it from my phone most of the time. It does have a pretty extensive API, perhaps not as easy to do bulk edits

I've also been legally blind since birth, although I have a decent amount of usable vision. I'm not sure I 100% agree with your #2 statement.

I forget if this is a setting or on by default, but VScode will play a sound when a task is finished running, and it's different based on whether the task succeeded or failed. I use this so that I can leave long running jobs (usually t

I use Tomato on my AP (my old router). I eventually picked up a used Sophos device and installed Opnsense mainly to play around with it. Opnsense/pfsense definitely have a learning curve whereas Tomato was super easy to setup. My one g

I run with Docker and it has been fine for me, but one issue I have is that certain things aren't documented well. For example, when I played around with the voice assistant stuff, the documentation only explained how to set it up via

Last time I went to the ER, they checked me in under the completely wrong name. Like it wasn't even close. Luckily I noticed the wrist band was wrong and pointed it out, but they then had to re-do tests since they had been done under t

I'm curious why you prefer Rexx as a scripting language on Windows over something like Python or even PowerShell. I use it quite a bit for work and find it pretty limiting. With a lack of built in libraries even some simple stuff like

Other than for hobby use, you could use this for text messaging in situations where you don't have cell signal or wifi. Say you're out camping and don't have a connection, assuming everyone had a LoRa radio running meshtastic

I mostly agree, but I do think it should be a requirement that the user can install an alternative operating system. On a desktop or laptop, if you dislike something about Windows or macOS, you can install Linux. On most Android devices, yo

I work with a few proprietary languages and many tools don't have semantic information but it's still tolerable as plain text. I suspect I'd be stuck using awful tools if these were visual languages.

But doesn't Usenet require an account that's linked to a payment method? If you use something like a credit card, then the server owner has your real info and presumably a list of every illegal download you've done. Seems lik

My company/team has very different processes for bugs vs feature requests. If a customer opens a ticket and we determine it's a bug, we will generally fix it in the reported release and later (unless it's a security vulnerabi
