Oh I get using your thumb to click/hold like it's a button. I was questioning the three-finger-drag but the other comment answered it, the gesture is "sticky" so you can reposition quickly when you hit the edge.

I don't have a MacBook but I looked up a video and this seems interesting. But how does it solve the problem of hitting the edge of the trackpad? If anything, it seems like it makes the problem worse because now you have three fingers

My company does that too, it's really annoying. They also sometimes send out mass emails for things like surveys but link to some third party service. I've even seen them put, in the email, things like "the link goes to a tru

I guess I'm confused then. Is the expectation that you can just run any Windows app on an Xbox, unmodified? I would think you'd have to at least change the UI

I also took issue with the Xbox example, and I think it's a context issue. When I read it, I interpreted it as an API for new apps/games to use. In that case, they should be testing on an actual Xbox before shipping! And why would

In my school, my district had an elementary school, middle school, & high school. So yes if you live at the same address the whole time, you and your friends would all go through each school together.

Also, about the "regardless of where your friends go" part, I'd say most people meet their friends in school. I guess if they moved and had to change schools that would suck but I can't think of anyone that happened to p

Out of curiosity, why use Pandoc? Can't Word natively save as HTML, PDF, etc?

I remember in elementary school having a class once where we went to the computer lab and learned about the Internet. I distinctly remember the teacher saying that links were always blue and underlined, and we even had a demo site with a gr

I'm not a Mac user but something like this would be nice for me. I'm visually impaired, and I have to be very close to the screen so I have my main monitor on an arm so it can float above my keyboard. Then I have a second screen (

At one point I was using an old phone as an IP camera and I had it plugged in to a battery bank that was constantly charging. The battery bank died pretty quickly, I think within weeks. Then I just plugged the phone directly into power, and

Why would someone who just wants to access the data need to pay for AWS? And the rest can be avoided by using a library PC & open source software. Or more likely, are already things almost everyone has on hand anyway.

Reading this gave me an idea to extend this even further. What if the AI could look at your logbook history and suggest automations? For example, I have an automation that turns the lights on when it's dark based on a light sensor. It

Some update to Windows 11 recently made Notepad open your last tabs when opening it. This keeps throwing off my muscle memory because I'm so used to just launching notepad and pasting or typing immediately, but now that might mean typi

At my job it's a weird situation where it isn't really possible to even compile the code locally so we end up editing locally and then uploading the code to another system to compile it. Then we can remote into a hypervisor to spi

Thanks for pointing this out. I'm visually impaired but don't tend to need a screen reader that often. But the times I do want/need to use one, I inevitably find things that are just awful. For fun, I tried turning on TalkBac

They are unfortunately raising it to $14/mo. But I'll keep paying because I can't stand the YouTube ads, and it comes with YouTube Music so I don't need to pay for Spotify or some other music service.

I've also heard the term alarm fatigue. Pretty sure I heard it in the context of cybersecurity where security admins will get complacent if there's too many false alarms and potentially miss legitimate attacks.
