In France they're (cleverly enough) called "appart'hôtel". You can stay there for one week up to several months (or years I guess if you keep paying?) and you can use it as a hotel or an apartment depending on the level

Is a loan deemed not risky by the bank necessarily not risky for the loaner? (That's a genuine question, I have no clue)

Well... Introverts are more likely to let you know they exist via a blog post than by telling you directly.

Well that's what happen when you use a special value that's actually not that special and is part of the valid values domain. If they had to use a string (and I doubt they had to), they could at least have used the empty string.

Since a lot of pages contain these exact words (WordPress, github.io, etc.), maybe it's actually the sorting of the result that takes time?

Arguably, it's better that way. Confusing meteorology with climatology is the favourite fallacy of climatosceptics. EDIT: Replaced "argument" by "fallacy"

"cycling multiple hours a day" Well, I wasn't imagining _that_ level of exercising either. That's already sounds quite extreme to me. My initial point was the following: just doing more sport is not going to help if you

I understand your point but food is not just a sum of calories. Not all food is metabolised the same. Athletes consume a lot of calories but avoid junk food. Edit: as I read your comment again, actually, I think we mostly agree.

That's not my point though. It's not contradictory to say "intense exercising can cause starving if you don't eat enough" and "exercising cannot prevent overweight without a proper diet".

Exercising is very beneficial for your health for a lot of reasons but it cannot prevent overweight without a proper diet. The role of exercising has been exaggerated by Coca-Cola and other junk food sellers to shift the blame away from the

A wonderfully written article, very instructive and enjoyable to read. It's fun to see how a lot of things never really changes, like the teachers trying to sell their own textbooks, teaching for the exams for the students they know ar

I learnt to program with VBA for Word and Excel. I found a booklet that my father got along with another IT magazine. My brother and I started self-teaching programming this way. I still occasionally write some VBA macros.

My thoughts exactly. Maybe it's because I've used SVM and Mercurial before but I learned Git very easily. I find the commands and options fairly intuitive once you know you're manipulating a graph of patches. But I guess this

You have a point. Actually, in the case of search-and-rescue that's already a moral decision that is made each time. In case the rescue mission itself is seemed to dangerous for the team, it's not attempted.
