I don't like the feel to it. When scrolling it feels sluggish and the screen seems to flicker.

I'm from Europe and I know SO. I didn't know Quora until I forced myself to click on one of the Quora links on HN. To me it looked like a SO knockoff and I guess it looks that way to most people.

Hmm, a guy gets lucky and sells a really simple website and is now an entrepreneur/hacker genius? It's stuff like this that makes me wanna read HN less.

The top answer gets many points right IMHO. The only reason I use Python for scripting is because of its superb standard library (which other language comes bundled with a SMTP server?). But as soon as something with a similar powerful libr

Until I can get a proper asian localization (on a shoestring budget) Nokia can have 100% market shere over there. It won't be of any use to me :(

This is where I sympathize with transhumanist ideas. We should seriously research the possibility of transferring the human consciousness into a machine "body". Our organic bodies will fail us eventually.

I suspected this for low quantity apps already but couldn't prove it as it might have been (or might still be) a statistical anomaly. I had a non-appstore Mac app pirated and after a known "scene group" released a keygen and the app started

> Link building has all to do with making content that people find interesting enough to link to/talk about on social networks Shouldn't that be the aim of any website? Being interesting so people like the site and talk about it?

Hmm, it's sad. We need a stronger start-up/tech entrepreneur scene in Europe. Everything is so valley centric :(

As soon as they start talking about "link building" my spam sense tingles. The same for "social media optimization". So what is left? Glorified mod_rewrite hackery? /edit: That's not a flame. I'm just interested what non shady SEOs do. The

I don't think that Mr. Kerninghan runs around shouting "I made C! Bow to me, worms!". It's rather that other people make him the icon he is.

It's that "func programming is rocket science"-stigma people nowadays spread. I don't know why they hype functional programming that much (maybe because they could show off the C "hotshots" in their CS 101 course?) but FP is such a basic an

Now let us re-sell our "used" e-books and I might see a sense in paying (dead-tree-price - $2) for an e-book.

Yeah, it always astonishes me how destroyed people can feel about a negative tech crunch mention. If your consumer base is not the sort of tech geek who reads TC then TC frankly doesn't matter if you want to sell your product.

Git is evil in that regard. I had a cookie file in one of my public Github repos only a few days ago. Ironically I explicitly took care to store all credentials in external files outside the repository for that project. :/
