Are you using the PartDesign workbench? In my experience for simple things (not 3D sketches) that almost follows the same workflow as Solidworks sketch -> extrude.

You can simulate G-forces in an enclosed simulator (it doesn't work if you can see outside) - you're just limited to 1G. I've flown a 737 simulator which tilted back to simulate takeoff thrust. It felt eerily realistic

Those are all good points. Unfortunately there's a huge amount of noise in the green technology space, which has the tendency to drown out the scientific thinking. However, I don't think dismissing biomass (or biofuels) completely

Climate change is being driven by people extracting carbon from deep underground and releasing it into the atmosphere. By that measure, burning biomass is CO2 neutral. The carbon released is not carbon which was extracted from the ground. I

That price is not really based on mass market affordability though. The UK GDP per capita is $43k USD and the US is $63K USD. The average salary in the UK is $38k/year and the average salary in the US is $63k. By all measures the UK is

My guess from the list of premium airports is that Microsoft has made a judgement based on wealthy geek density. People love to fly their local or familiar airports, and the kind of people in San Francisco who play flight simulator are weal

I agree with you in general. In this case, though, the article talks about "a few months over the quarantine" and "including a 3 month break due to life and COVID impacts". That makes it pretty easy to date!

Benefit is a very broad word. Maybe you don't benefit financially, but you benefit in other ways. It's rather reductionist to assume that the only people who will support UBI will benefit financially from it. Means tested welfare

I did a course on topological optimization at university which covered pretty much this concept. We used some software from a company called Altair. Essentially you defined some physical constraints and it generated the optimal 3D bracket.

Why don't the finances work? As an example: I'm paying for Netflix and Amazon prime. I'm not going to pay for more services because I don't value watching TV more than that. We buy or rent a specific movie maybe once a q

This is something I don't think is fully understood by most people. Most people think "clean energy is just about building solar panels" - it's viewed as this linear process. I think the media often present it this way.

My experience in London was that Uber radically disrupted things. Yes, private hire cars existed, but the experience was pretty bad. You'd phone a number or go to an office, they'd say "20 minutes" and then, hopefully, a

It depends what you're doing - for analogue circuits the free software LTSpice is pretty great. It's clunky and you need to follow some tutorials, but it's a brilliant way to sanity check an analogue design before you build i

This is interesting. We collectively spend _so much_ of our energy on heating and cooling buildings, and there's very little change happening. The problems identified in the article are such low hanging fruit. Everywhere you look in re

I think there's 2 fundamental questions here: 1. Does the current system encourage work? When you require means testing for benefits and have sharp discontinuities, the incentive to work isn't very strong. If a full time job pays
