Little known fact: Fisher Technik is actually a knockoff of an education focused toy set invented by the brother of Otto Lilienthal, who lay the groundwork for the Wright brothers.

I think the ideas is that the LLM cannot think internally. It’s output is its thinking process. Especially with an auto regressive architecture like GPT, where each output token becomes part of the input. I imagine it like handing the LLM

I recently asked it to produce a regex for me, and it responded that as a large language model, it wasn’t allowed to produce hate speech… Not making this up.

Right. This is silly. I’m wondering: If it’s 80 years out of print, is it still protected by copyright at all? The thing with copyright is, it seems to me: You cannot ask for them to change the rules. You just have to break them. Imagine G

Voice Dream Scanner on iOS recognizes pages and text and performs OCR. You just go snap snap snap. For text that is sufficient. If you want to capture the layout also, or graphics, things get much more complicated. Even just getting heading

I never thought of that. Digital has lots of advantages. You can have it with you at all times on your phone. You can use text to speech. You can export your highlights. Soon, people are going to want to ask ChatGPT about content from books

You can scan a 500 page book in 20 minutes with you phone, non-destructively. Though it’s not fun and the quality will not be ideal, especially if there are graphics in the text also. For text-only books, quality matters little as long as t

Sure. But they already run a piracy site, don’t they? The cost and delay of shipping are what drives many people to piracy in the first place, I would argue. If I can have a book for $5 in two days as a used physical copy from Amazon, for $

That power was diminished by the capitalized title appearing right after the first word in the sentence, which thus was also capitalized. Adding quotes would have made it easier to parse I guess.

They should just make it easier for people to scan books. Or give incentives. Why mail physical books around when all you need is their content? Or just get people to upload photos from the backs of the books in their library. Then extract

It’s also a bit self serving. Essentially we’re saying, “Yeah it looks as though I’m just doodling around on my phone while I work in online ads, but really, my life is 1000x more valuable to the future of humanity than that of some random

Ok cool. Don’t worry about it. I think few people are as sluggish with software updates as I am. As for audio: I find ChatGPT gives the best answers when you give it a lot of context. Basically a dump of your entire thought process leading

That’s an argument against legal AI as well. The idea being that the citizen has a right to be heard by the state. And that an AI handling a case is not really “hearing“ the citizen. Then, again, before Al Capone, nobody in their right mind
